Me and Johnny swiftly bought a house in a matter of two weeks. It was a beautiful beach house, with a private beach. It was very close to my school, being only 15 minutes in the car. I didn't have a car at the moment, as I just kept asking Johnny for lifts. He didn't seem to mind as it was on his way to work. He had been working on a new film with Jim Jarmusch. It was quite a poetic film which I was really getting into. He told me about his character William Blake,
"What? Like the poet?" I asked,
"Yes, well..no. The American Indian thinks he is thee William Blake." Johnny says,
"But why is it called Dead Man?"
"Because The Indian think Blake is dead, which he is, so he calls him a dead man." He answered.
He were sat at the breakfast bar on some high stools, and it was May 3rd. Just one more week till the premiere of Dead Man, me and Johnny were going together, making us an official couple. Words couldn't describe how nervous I was. First the magazine cover, and now even more pictures of me being taken and talking to magazines about us. It was just awkward and cringey. Being a journalist and writer student, you'd probably think I was being hypocritical. But I wasn't. I wanted to write the truth and get the truth for newspapers. Not for some scummy magazine in downtown La. I used to live down there with my family when I was like 5, and it wasn't a very nice family environment.
There had been a silence after about two minutes when I slowly nodded with a confused face eating my cereal deep in thought.
"Are you alright Chloe?" Johnny finally spoke up, rubbing small circles on my back.
"Yeah..um.. Just thinking. " I said blandly.
"Well, about what? " Johnny asked with concern in his eyes.
"Johnny.." I turned to face him,
"Will your fans like me? What about your family?" I said with my cheeks red and tears threatening to spill out my eyes.
"Of course they will! If I love they're bound to, too" he assured me.
"Ha. Tutu." I giggled,
"And about my family, I forgot to mention, we're having dinner with my mother tomorrow night. Is that okay?" He said.
A smile grew wider across my face as I started to stare at Johnny grinning at me holding my hand.
"Really? Oh gosh! I really can't wait to meet her!" I was so happy, he was serious about our relationship that he wanted me to meet his mother.
"What's her name?" I asked curiously,
"Betty-Sue." Johnny said taking another mouthful of granola.
"Explains." I traced my fingers over his tattoo on his upper left arm.
Johnny laughed at my actions,
"You must really love her." I mentioned
"Of course, who doesn't love their mother?" He said
I raised my hand above my head in an innocent way.
"What?" Johnny questioned
"Well... Me." I began to tell him how my mother and my step-dad used to hit me when I got home from school till I went to bed. And finally, when I was 16, I ran away.
"And I got on a train and came here to go to school. That was 4 years ago" I tried to smile, but it just hurt. But I tried to stay strong in front of him. He quickly pulled me into a tight hug and cradled me in his arms. That's when I couldn't take it, and I just cried into the crook of his neck. He didn't tell me to shush or anything like that, he just let me cry. That's what I love about him, so comforting to be around.
"Do you like passion Fruit?" He asked out of the blue.
"Never tried it," I said laughing through my sobs.
"I saw it, and thought of you. Full of passion." He smirked, walking over to the fridge and pulling out two passion fruits.
I immediately ran over and leaped into his arms and just kissed him, I'd never loved somebody this much as I did in this moment.
