it's been one week or so since y/n has last talked to robin and steve and that whole fuss had happened.
her days felt more positive without steve daily nagging her and being a dick. and y/n did miss robin but she was always with steve which wasn't helpful.
she didn't mind her alone time though.
it was very clearing for y/n and made her feel like a better person without the weight of feeling judged.
that was until later on in the day when an unexpected guest showed up to her house.
she was relaxing in her room, playing queen on her record player, reading this new book she got called 'it' or something like that. it was pretty good and interesting.
when suddenly y/n was pulled away from her daze by the sound of a loud ding in this empty house.
y/n huffed not wanting to get up from her calming trance but knew she eventually had to.
she marked your page and got up, she took the needle off the vinyl and skipped downstairs towards the front door.
she didn't think to check through the peephole and just opened the door, which y/n wish she hadn't.
stood in front of her was the last face she wanted to see, steve harrington.
he stood there with a cheeky grin with flowers in one hand.
y/n was shocked but more annoyed. her instinct was to close the door in front of his face, which is what she attempted.
i say attempted because steve caught the door before it closed.
"listen! y/n, i know you most definitely dont wanna talk to me but i wanna say something. please." he said with desperation laced in his voice.
y/n slowly opened the door, she wouldn't have but her curiosity got the best of her.
he smiled when he realized she was gonna let him actually talk to her.
"speak, harrington." y/n said with a monotone voice.
"well, first off, these are for you." steve gestured towards the flowers and handed them to her, which she took, suprisingly.
"second, i just wanna say i am so so sorry for what i've done to you. i know those words sound useless to you but i truly mean it. i was and still am such a douche and wish i never made you feel hated or unwelcomed, i promise i wanna change and will try my best to. and i really just wanna say that i'm sorry again and hope you can forgive me.."
this was new to y/n. seeing steve actually be kind and talk about how he's feeling, in a way. she wasn't one to hold grudges but didn't wanna forgive him too easily.
he continued talking while y/n stood there, thoughtfully listening.
"i don't expect you to rush and become my friend instantly, y/n. but i realized how much of a great person you actually are, robin helped me to. and i promise i will make up for all those times you gave me a donut and i was a dick and never ate them. you're actually really cool and i should've realized sooner. please let me change and be your friend." he ended with a small smile.
y/n sheepishly grinned at the donut ordeal and she would be lying if she said she didn't like his apology.
"well, harrington, i didn't expect this today or to ever hear from you again, honestly. but i am willing to give you the chance to redeem yourself."
he was completely shocked at her response.
he expected for her to slap him across the face and call it a day. but this was a million times better than that and genuinely made him feel happy.
"like, really?" steve asked, not believing it.
y/n giggled and nodded her head. "yes, steve. you were a dick but i'm not. i trust you will change for the better."
"wow. you are actually so nice and this means the world. you won't regret this, y/n. i promise!" he giddily, practically shouted.
y/n laughed lightly at his childlike response. "well, i hope so. i'm really trusting you here harrington."
"well, thank you so much for the opportunity y/n. now, should we go get you the donuts i promised?" steve asked cheekily, holding an arm out for you to link with his.
you pretended to think about it and tapped your finger against your chin.
"hmm.. sure! but first let me put these lovely flowers away." y/n answered.
he stood on the porch as y/n walked back out now wearing shoes and a sweater.
they linked arms and walked to the car where steve opened the passenger door for her.
he got in and started up the car when he just looked over and just smiled at her.
"what?" y/n asked, with slight blush from his staring.
"nothin', just happy is all."
she smiled back and looked at the window, ready for some donuts and hopefully a good time with her newfound acquaintance .
steve drove down the street and started playing the radio, take on me by a-ha was playing.
steve immediately began to sing which caused y/n to laugh at his horrid voice.
"what? jealous that i sound like whitney houston?" he sassed playfully.
"you are delusional if you think you sound like her. and even if you did, i hit notes like freddie mercury." the girl sassed right back.
he raised his eyebrows at her as if to say 'well then let's see'.
"let's hear it." steve challenged.
"ok but don't cry when you hear how beautiful i sound." y/n said.
he laughed and awaited for her singing.
she began to sing and immediately burst into giggles at how awful she sounded.
"damn girl, you really can sing." he joked, pretending to hype her up.
she slapped his arm playfully as he just chuckled.
for the rest of the car ride they sang and kept saying how crazy it is that they're somewhat friends now. they couldn't wait to tell robin.
...
idk if you guys wanted to forgive him or not but here ya go. also sorry if it was short, love ya <3
