Chapter 15: My New Life.

Although Caius tried to keep our arrival on the down low as possible, news of the human girl in the Castle spread like wildfire. Caius made sure I was given every comfort that he thought I needed. I now lay in Caius's bed listening to the morning birds twittering happily back and forth. I needed to get up and get some water because my lips were dry from sleep and I need to get it ready for the day before that woman arrives to do all my personal care for me.

So, I moved tentatively out of bed being careful not to fall or worse. The baby inside moved ever so slightly as if it was stretching. I yawned and entered the pristine and modern bathroom. I drew myself a bath and put bubble bath in the hot steamy water and then poured myself some water from the sink and I drank it. I found relief as the cold refreshing liquid extinguished my parched lips. I shed my nightgown as it pools on the floor. I shivered from the cold; the frigid air that seemed to permeate the whole Castle enveloped me contently. Vampires. I'm mused irritably. They never get cold, so they never really think of human's comfort, do they?

I hurried to get in and sighed to myself how the warm water soothed my achy body. Though I was only a week or so pregnant my belly was round, and the baby was growing faster than I ever thought possible. Caius told me it was to be expected. Though he shared with me truly little information. He told me only last night I was on a need to know basis. That kind of hurt me. I should know everything there was to know. How was I to be prepared for this event.

As I soaped up my body and rinsed, I hear a distant sound of a rap on my door.

''Who is it? ''I call cautiously.

''It's Corin, I've come to assist you. ''

I sighed audibly. I wanted to just take care of myself. How do you reason with an overbearing vampire?

''Come in,'' I say at last.

Corin, a mouse haired little vampire came in dressed in a black dress with a white collar, a laced edge white socks with black flats. She reminded me of a little girl because she was so youthful and short. But I knew better looking past the harmless facade. She was a killer like all the rest.

Corin's red eyes flitted from my own to my toes sticking out of the bubbles at the end of the tub. Crossing her arms over her chest I Inwardly grown. Oh, here we go again.

''Mistress, you must not get out of bed without assistance. You may harm yourself or the baby. Now here, she admonished, let me help you. ''

''Can I just wash myself? ''I protested.

''You know the answer to that, 'She said. ''Master Caius will be displeased. He will be unhappy with my lateness as well. He gave me specific instructions on how you will be cared for. ''

Without another word of protest, I leaned forward as she scrubbed my naked flesh with a puff and floral soap. After she washed my hair Corin fetched my robe. I winced as I got up and Corin helped me up by the arms the rest of the way.

''There, there mistress, I don't know how many times I've got to tell you to leave it all to me. ''She said getting impatient with me.

Suddenly, a voice shattered my composure and I almost slipped and Corin caught me and wrap me up in a Robe. I gasped as I looked into the angry eyes of my lover. He had his arms crossed and stood tense.

''Raina, you will obey me and allow Corin to assist you in everything or there will be consequences for your behavior. ''He said stalking towards me.

Ever since we arrived at the Castle he has changed somewhat. He used to be more loving an understanding, but I don't know all his reasons, but he seemed to want me put in my place. Whatever that is?
