Noah's P.O.V
Today marks three years since they all disappeared without an explanation. Three years since the teens where left to run the world. So basically three years since the world went to shit.I was 15 at the time. And my older sisters were 18 and 19. They're gone now too. When you turn 20 you disappear too. Nobody's seen anyone get taken or however it is that they disappear but somehow it always happens.
The only way you can stop yourself getting taken is by finding a team and starting the game but there is no way I'm doing that.
The game is so hard. You have to find a team of ten teens and then once you activate your team you start receiving tasks or really dares. They start relatively easy but they get harder and harder. Nobody knows how many dares there are to complete because nobody has won yet.
Everyone just dies before and you need at least one person to complete the game to win.I'd rather just disappear than die in some brutal way, besides I don't even know where I'd find the people to make a team because everyone doesn't want to do it in fear of dying.
When we all found out about the game at the start loads of teams were created in the thought that the game was going to be easy and they'd win but it soon became clear that that wasn't the case. All over the world teens were dying from the ruthless dares so people just stopped creating teams. Sometimes you'll here about some team that all failed and you'll just shrug it off because it was normal news now.
You can't even leave or deactivate a team. You can only swap teams but even then you can only do that once. It's horrible but we can't stop it.
"Hey Noah have you ever thought about starting a team?" A voice asked breaking me from my thoughts.
I was staring out the window of the house we were in. It wasn't my house. We were miles from my house in some abandoned house. It may have not been mine but Blake and I had made it our own with my sisters about two years ago. I was sitting on a couch in an open living room-kitchen area and the boy who had asked the question was sat in one of the counter tops.
He was staring at me, waiting for me to answer the question. I sighed and nodded my head.
"Yeah of course I have Blake." I said. "But I've decided now that I don't want to."
"But we're both 18 so we'll be 20 in two years and then we'll just disappear like the rest of them." Blake replied.
"I know that but surely you'd rather just go wherever they go rather than die trying to complete one of the dares." I said and he thought for a moment.
"I mean I guess but then you'd at least die trying. Plus who says we would die. What if we were the first ones to complete the game?" Blake said raising his eyebrows.
"I doubt that. Millions of people have died trying to do it and I don't think we'd be any different."
"Hey you never know, we could be lucky." He said, "I think I'll join a team before I turn 20. Even if you don't do it with me."
"Maybe."
"Like what else are we supposed to do. It's been three god damn years! A bunch of teens can't build up the world again. nobody's getting old and the worlds already fallen apart. I mean where basically still children. Nobody's even at a legal drinking age!" Blake exclaimed, throwing his arms around to add emphasis.
"You know nobody followed that rule even before the disappearance." I mumbled and Blake laughed.
"You know what I mean." He said.
"I just... I don't want to loose you. You're all I have." I said and I looked at him to see his eyes looking at me with pity.
I've been with Blake since about two and a half years ago. We didn't know each other before but we met while I was out. His brother disappeared when the adults did so he didn't have anyone but I had my sisters. We hit off pretty well and soon enough I invited him to stay with me and my sisters. He was there through both their disappearances. Now it's just the two of us and it's been like that for a while. He's my best friend and I don't want to have to watch him die.
