Into The Woods

Gavin's P.O.V

We walked for a while, and had random conversations. Xavior mostly only talked if I asked him something, and even then it was a short response. He had a cold look, but at the same time it was warm in a way. We reached the border of the forest and I hesitated to walk in. Milo stood by me while Aaron and Xavior went ahead a little. 

"So basically we're following these dudes that you told us to stay away from into a creepy forest where they could potentially kill us?" I raised an eyebrow at Milo.

"Pretty much sums it up." He says, giving me a goofy smile.

"Riiiight." 

Milo nudges me and starts walking into the forest. The thought of staying at the border alone bothered me, so I finally followed them in. I walked up to Xavior and walked by his side. I put a stern look on my face and tried walking bold like he did. He chuckled and looked down at me. I blushed and stuffed by hands in my pockets.

"Where the hell are we going?" I heard Milo ask Aaron. Aaron opened his mouth to respond but Xavior cuts him off.

"Well we outta be going somewhere? Might as well wait and see." 

Milo glares at the back of Xavior's head and Aaron pats his head. He turns his glare to Aaron who winks at him, causing his face to turn red. I beamed and turned my attention back to where I was walking. We walked in silence for a while, going deeper into the woods. 

"Gavin?" 

I jumped a little and looked up at Xavior in shock. He gave a little chuckle and looked down at me.

"I'm not as nice as you think I am." 

I looked at him in confusion. 

Maybe they are going to kill us.

"Just not to some people at the least." He adds.

Okay, Maybe not.

"But, I don't want you getting hurt. Because that sure as hell is possible, and likely. There's a lot of shit you don't understand that can affect you. I just want you to know that." 

I watch my feet as we walk quietly for a few moments.

"I know." I say softly, maybe not loud enough for him to hear. 

He nods as if satisfied with my answer.

"Um.. w-why do you care?" I ask trying not to sound mean. He frowns down at me.

"I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to o-offend you I just-" I freeze when he places a hand on my shoulder to stop me from walking. He leans down and looks me dead in the eyes. I can feel his warm breath hit my face, and I look down.

"Don't ever apologize for something like that." He says leaning his head down more to look at my face. I look up to make it easier for him and his eyes seem so soft. He stands back up and begins walking again as if nothing happened. I stay paused and Aaron passes by me and catches up with Xavior. I look up at Milo who smirks and wiggles his eyebrows at me. My face turns hot and I can almost see the red spreading across it. I push my glasses up and start walking again. Xavior and Aaron walk ahead almost out of sight. They climb over rocks and swiftly turn to avoid the cliff edge. I run to try and catch up with them.

"Gavin-!!" I hear Milo yell. I try to turn around before I realize what he was yelling about. A giant wolf stands in a growling position at me. I love wolves, but this was bigger than any wolf I'd ever seen. It was well above my waist, almost the exact same size of me when it was on all fours. Drool dripped from it's mouth and its teeth had multiple things stuck in-between. I tried to scream but nothing escaped from my mouth. I backed away from the growling wolf slowly. It lunged at me, and I finally managed a scream and  squeezed my eyes shut. I waited for the pain of its teeth sinking into me but it never came. All I heard was a loud thud, followed by something hitting the ground. I slowly began to open my eyes and saw Milo holding a giant stick over the wolf's body. My eyes widened and I looked at him in shock. He had a clenched jaw and was looking back at me with pure fear in his eyes. He dropped the stick and ran towards me. 

"God um- are you okay?" He asked holding the side of my arms. I nodded for a full 20 seconds like an idiot. I couldn't help it. I was scared shitless. His breath was shaky as he looked around.

"What the hell was that?"
