Erika's p.o.v.

"Blep, blep blep," Erika said, poking Wednesday with her quill. It was a free period for the first-years, so they were all in the Great Hall at their respective tables. Some of the Slytherins were doing homework like Wednesday. Others were playing tabletop games with their friends or trading cards or reading books like Lydia. Erika was supposed to be doing homework, but she was having a nearly impossible time focusing on it.

"MAIL'S HERE!" A random kid called out. Erika looked up and saw owls filling the room and dropping packages, some of them even landing next to their owners. Erika looked up and saw a letter fluttering down to her. Erika checked who the letter was addressed to, and when she saw the handwriting, she burst into tears.

"Are you okay?" Lydia asked. Erika nodded. She looked back at the letter and opened it.

Dear Erika,

Fantastic news! I'm out of Azkaban! I would've sent you a howler, but that would've been a terrible idea. I have a small gift for you. It won't be coming with this letter though. I mean, you can already tell if you have the letter.

Please write me letters about how school is and what house you're in. I hope you're a Slytherin like your papa! Although, you being a Hufflepuff like your maman isn't too bad.

Anyways, I hope your school year is going well, I hope you have an acquaintance at least, and I hope you're trying your best at focusing.

Love,

Papa

P.S. My letter writing isn't as good as it used to be.

Erika smiled, she was glad that her father was out of prison.

"Who's that from?" Lydia asked.

"My father," Erika responded, looking at Lydia. Lydia nodded and went back to reading. Erika put her father's letter in her robe and went back to trying to do homework.
