"Hey Laur!" Sara yelled from across the street.

"Hey! Rip is that you?" Laurel asked crossing the road.

"Yeah, hey Laurel," he smiled moving closer to Sara. He didn't have any friends, just Sara. They met in year 4, Rip was new to the school and someone called him a nerd. Sara, being Sara, punched him in the face. Ever since then they were inseparable.

"Laur is dad going to be here soon?" Sara asked hugging her sister.

"Yeah, he said he's bringing mum too, we're going for dinner, do you wanna come too?" Laurel asked Rip.

He looked to Sara for permission, she smiled and nodded. "Thank you, it would be lovely," he replied to the older Lance.

Quentin and Dhina pulled up a little while later and the three sat in the back. Sara in the middle, Rip to her left and Laurel to her right.

They sat talking about how their days went when a black van came from nowhere and smashed into the car.

Dhina died before the guys took them, the rest accept Sara unconscious, she pretended so she could hear what they were saying.

"We torchure them and then they die," a man told another. Sara wasn't scared of death, never was, she didn't want to die but she wasn't scared. "Leave the boy for last," the same man said. Sara felt a rush of panic as she realised her family would die, she decided to keep her cover and stay quiet, there was nothing she could do anyway.

1 hour later

Sara, Laurel and Rip watched Quentin get torchured first. Laurel screamed for help and begged them to stop, Sara knew how much they screamed and cried no one would come and they wouldn't stop. "Laur their not going to stop, we're all gonna die and there's nothing we can do, can you let me die without a headache," Sara sighed holding back tears. She was stubborn, always was, she wouldn't give them the satisfaction of breaking her before she died.

"Sara's right, love you both," Quentin said accepting his death.

"I love you too dad," they both say at the same time.

Rip watched his friend closely, he could tell she was in pain but she wouldn't let it show. Suddenly the guy stabbed him in the heart and he was dead.

They moved on to Laurel and this broke Sara's heart even more, her sister screamed in pain over and over again, Rip swore he saw a single tear roll down her cheek as they killed her too, her face remained straight the whole time.

They moved onto Sara, they cut along her jawline first, then moved onto her back and torso. She didn't scream, it hurt, but she wouldn't give them the satisfaction of knowing they hurt her. They cut down her arms and legs and was about to kill her when they were shot down by the cops.

Present:

Sara looked in the mirror at her scar along her jaw, she still remembered the pain, she remembered the pain of her family dying, she remembered the pain in their screams. But for her she didn't scream, didn't cry, she just sat, tied to a chair, watching. Watching them kill every member of her family.

"Sara!" Zari yelled pulling her out of her thoughts.

"Yeah," she replied.

"You ok?" She asked.

"I'm fine Z."

There was a knock, "I'll get it," Zari nodded and her best friend walked to the door.

She opened it to find Rip, "Rip?" She asked a little surprised. She hadn't seen him for 7 years and now he was on her doorstep.

"Hello Sara," he replied. He noticed the scar along her jaw that one of the men had given her. He raised his hand and ran his finger along it.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I'm here to see you." He told her.

"Sara! Hurry up with the food!" Zari yelled assuming it was the Chinese food.

"It's not the food!" Sara shouted back.

"Then who-" she paused. "Is that? Are you? Are you Rip, Sara's best friend? Well except me but boy best friend?" She asked surprised.

"That's me, who are you?"

"This is Zari, my friend."

"Excuse me! I'm not just your friend!" She half yelled.

"Yes, yes, I know Z," Sara laughed tapping her on the shoulder.

"Nice to meet you Zari," he smiled.

"You wanna come in?" Sara asked.

"Yeah okay, I need to ask you something anyway," he replied.

Sara and Zari let him in and they all sat on the sofa, Sara in the middle.

"You said you wanted to ask me something?" Sara remembered.

"Yes, yes, yes," a pause. "I was wondering if I could hire you," he said.

"For what?" She asked confused.

"I am the Director of the FBI, I was wondering if you'd like to help find a man named Ra's al Guhl, he's killed a lot of people and we'd like to take him down," he explains.

Sara pauses at the name Ra's al Guhl, the amount of pain he caused her made her want him dead not caught. She knew she couldn't let Rip get onto his trail without protection it was a yes the second he said his name.

"Rip Hunter, former thief along with me is the Director of the FBI?" Sara mocked him.

"Yes, yes, I know, I also have a daughter and a wife." He tells her.

"You do? What are their names?" Sara asked.

"Miranda and Sara, I thought you we're dead so I may have named my daughter after you," he says looking a little guilty.

"Seriously?" Sara asked.

"Seriously." He replied. "What about my offer?" He asked.

"Yes. But I have conditions."
