Tommy left it at that, a huge cliffhanger if Sophie ever heard one. He departed the infirmary and left Scott to clean up the broken glass. Scott cut himself three times during this process. Louis' long-awaited return came soon after Sophie fixed Scott up with some bandaids. He was back in time for dinner which was good because everyone was starving. They hadn't had lunch at all because they had been abducted by the ship before they were able to eat anything. Louis hadn't been greatly affected by the surprise attack of the spaceship on the school but someone else was.
Myra Miller was the first victim that the beam of light had carried away from the school. She too was wearing a black jumpsuit, but her suit had silver lining on the seams that had a faint glow. Around her eyes, Myra had silver eyeliner and her dark hair had streaks of grey hidden beneath it. She arrived shortly after Louis had.
"Good look, Miller, " Louis complimented the mean girl. Louis always had a soft spot for Myra Miller and tried to impress her with every chance he could. "Would you like to join us for dinner, we were about to leave?" Myra silently nodded and took Louis' hand and led him out of the room, remaining silent the entire time.
"How hard did I hit my head?" Scott asked, touching his temple softly, careful not to damage the stitches. "Did Myra Miller just agree to go to dinner with us? And she took Louis' hand! Who knows where it's been!" Sophie threw her head back and laughed aloud.
"I thought I was imagining things too! Come on Somerson let's go get dinner and discuss my obviously not dead brother and that fact that we've just been sucked up by a huge spaceship and no one was there to notice."
