Emmalina blinked. Once. Twice. Hogwarts School of what? The eleven-year-old turned to her mother and aunt for some guidance. She was surprised to see them relatively calm, and even break out into large smiles, which was the last thing on her mind to do.

Confusion washed over her, her mind swarming with millions of thoughts, her eyes flickering between the three adults.

"Minnie!"

Ophelia squealed, before tackling the stern-looking woman 'Minnie' into a fierce hug, much to Emmalina's astonishment. Were the strange-looking woman and Aunt Ophelia friends? Emmalina partly wondered if the woman had drunk too much before she came here. She was mumbling something about wizards and witches. . .

"I can't believe it!" Ophelia shrieked with joy making Emmalina jump, goosebumps appearing on her arm. "I mean with Emily being a muggle, I thought we would have no more witches in the family, I thought it would only continue with my bloodline. . .oh my lord, I can't believe it!"

Witches in the bloodline?

Emmalina continued to stare at them dumbfounded. Did Aunt Ophelia have one too many shots of tequila?

"What are you guys talking about?"

All of them snapped their heads towards her as if they had forgotten she was there. Ophelia sheepishly let go of 'Minnie' and stepped back.

"I assume I should take it from here?"

Ophelia and her mother nodded.

"Now, Emmalina," the eleven-year-old didn't even want to question how she knew her name as she watched the woman in a daze. "What I am going to tell you might come as a great shock to you my child, so brace yourself."

Emmalina's breath caught sharply, her stomach fluttering with nerves as she felt bile rising in her throat. The pounding of her heart seemed to echo loudly in her chest, as she mentally braced herself for the impending news.

"You, my dear, are a witch."

"That's quite a rude thing to tell someone." Emmalina muttered, annoyance brewing in her chest. Why had this woman come to insult her?

Ophelia let out a loud cackle of laughter, her mother following suit as sounds of delirious laughter echoed in the living room as the two adults stumbled, laughing over each other.

McGonagall and Emmalina watched with no sign of amusement. The young girl had started to feel stupid as her cheeks flushed in embarrassment.

"It is not a matter to be taken lightly," McGonagall stated as they finished the last of their laughter. "It is true, you are a witch Emmalina meaning you can do and practice magic."

"I'm a witch too," Ophelia stated cheerfully. "Out of practice but still."

Emmalina stared at her. It couldn't be true. . . Could it? The thought of her being able to do magic sounded utterly ridiculous but the seriousness of McGonagall told her that this wasn't a prank.

Emmalina's heart started thumping loudly in her chest.

"What-what do you mean? Aunt Ophelia are you seriously a witch?"
