EMMALINA gasped in surprise."Yeah, and even crazier is that the culprit hasn't been caught and also, there was apparently nothing stolen from the vaults according to the goblins." Lavender continued, folding her legs and shifting to a more comfy position on Emmalina's bed.
The morning had been spent listening to Lavender narrate the latest Wizarding World news about how a wizard or witch had broke into Gringotts which had the highest security in the world and somehow hadn't taken anything.
Emmalina had been to Gringotts before and wondered how anyone could be brave enough to break in.
"Everyone's gets really scared when this type of stuff happens. They are always afraid," Lavender dropped her voice to a whisper, leaning closer to Emmalina. "That you-know-who is behind it,"
"Except for the fact it couldn't possibly be you know who," a bossy voice interjected and the pair turned towards Hermione who was seated in her bed, legs tucked underneath her with a thick book open on her lap.
"Then who do you think it is Miss-I-Know-Everything," Lavender questioned in annoyance, throwing her hands up. The players of a Quidditch team called the Chudley Canons grinned up at them in an eternal smile. printed on Lavender's shirt.
Hermione, ignoring the slight jab towards her frowned, pulling a strand of bushy hair behind her ear. Flickering her gaze towards them, she simply said. "It must have been another dark wizard that couldn't steal what he wanted to steal."
"Well, why don't you think you-know-who can't be behind this?"
"Because, there hasn't been you-know-who's sighting in more than a decade. Why would he want to steal gold of all things?" Hermione questioned, flickering her gaze to her box and turning a page.
"Maybe he needs it to sustain himself," Lavender retorted.
"And the person didn't even steal," Hermione replied.
Lavender opened and closed her mouth like a goldfish.
"If you two don't mind, I'll return to reading my book," Hermione stated, putting her bed on the bed and laying down, resting her head on her hand. Her big eyes flickered between the words intently.
"What are you reading Hermione?" Emmalina questioned, adjusting her position and hugging her leg to her chest and resting her head on her knee.
"I'm reading Quidditch through the Ages."
Emmalina's brows creased. Hermione had devoured books eagerly about the school curriculum and the history but had never bothered to read about Quidditch.
Hermione left the book on the bed and began to pace, trapping her bottom lip between her pearly teeth. "I'm so worried," she blurted out, hands intertwining in front of her, "I mean, I've never ridden a broom, what if I fall and break my neck?"
Lavender leaned back, watching her with amused eyes.
Emmalina stood up, and walked over to Hermione, patting her arm. "You'll be fine,"
Just then Parvati entered their shared dorm. "Get ready everyone!"
First-year Gryffindors only had Potions with the Slytherins, so they didn't have to put up with the frowny lot much. Or at least, they didn't until they spotted a notice pinned up in the Gryffindor common room that made them all groan. Flying lessons would be starting on Thursday -- and Gryffindor and Slytherin would be learning together.
A deep groan escaped Parvati and Lavender's lips, eyes turning into an annoyed glare.
"Seriously? As if we don't have enough lessons with the Slytherins," scoffed Lavender, folding her arms over her chest.
