Krone Pov:
The iron bars moved up, and I stepped in. "Grandma." I said, looking at the old woman in front of me. She smiled at me, and I stepped closer to her, saying: "There's something I'd like to report." I pulled the paper I got from Ray out, looking at her with a serious, yet anxious expression.
3rd Person Pov:
"I'm so hungry!" "Huh? Krone's not here." said the children, already sitting at the tables. "Where is she?" Phil said: "Mama said she has work to do." Ray looked at the empty chair, narrowing his eyes. "Are you okay?" asked a smaller girl from next to him. He looked at her, answering: "Yeah. I was just thinking." "About what?" She smiled innocently at him, which made the butterflies in his stomach fly even faster. He took her hand and walked back over to their usual seats, sitting down. (Y/N) did the same, still looking at him. He simply shook his head, as to tell her that it wasn't important.
Krone Pov:
"So this is what you mean?" asked Grandma after reading the paper I gave her. "In addition to the facts on this note, the other perfect scorers know about the secret and are trying to escape." I added: "And the two high-quality ones below them! I don't have evidence regarding their escape, but please believe me! If we leave this alone, it'll get dangerous! At this rate-" I was cut off by Grandma, who said: "However..." I gasped. "They are being kept under control, right?" My eyes widened as she said: "If they are kept under control, then there are no issues. Just like it was back in my days." What? But... Those children... "This is troublesome, Sister Krone, that you get in Isabella's way. They are special. Isabella and her plant." She walked next to me, saying: "Isabella is a necessary pawn for me. You are insufficient to take her place. It will become troublesome for me." My eyes widened even more as I took a sharp breath. "May we offer the best plate at the Tifari. May the Farm have maximum profits." She walked away from me, leaving me standing there alone. I couldn't help but to laugh. "Ah, I see. They were in it together. I had no chance of winning from the beginning." I laughed even more, watching as the gate closed again, leaving no way to escape for me. Then I heard the footsteps behind me. I turned around, seeing one of them. I felt my back hitting the iron bars as I kept my eyes on it. The memories of my life on the farm, how I became a Sister, and everything in between flashed through my mind. No, I...! I held the paper knife, swinging it in front of me, hoping it would keep it away. I knew that it was just my last struggles, but still! Something had to work! All my hard work... Everything I did... I turned on my heels, trying to run away. But I slipped. The next thing I knew, I was in it's hand. At least I managed to leave the pen for you, my precious (Y/N)... You'll figure it out and show it to Norman, I know that. So... I felt a stinging pain in my chest, which caused me to scream. Then, everything slowly started to fade. You brats better escape. You're good at playing tag, right? Run... and run... and survive. Then destroy this damned world we live in!
Ray Pov:
I knocked on the door to Mama's office. She opened it, and I immediately said: "Let's start switching out the chemicals." Mama smiled at me, then motioned me to go on. I started walking, with her following me. Norman and Emma should already be on their way to the wall. (Y/N), Don, and Gilda should be outside, watching the south window of the second floor. So far, all is going according to the plan. We went up the stair. Just then, Mama said: "I eliminated her." I stopped and turned to look at her, a surprised expression on my face. Mama just smiled, saying: "I eliminated Sister Krone." My eyes widened before I ran up the stair, right into Sister's room. But... She's gone. I looked around in the dark room, feeling Mama's hands on my shoulders. "I didn't need her anymore. That's why I eliminated her." I gasped at her words, then slowly turned around to look at her. "You too." Wha- She continued: "Our deal is over, right here and now." She clapped her hands together while she talked. I asked: "Am I fired as well? Why? You need me, don't you? Don't you want to use me so you can control them indirectly and peacefully from behind the scenes?" I was getting more anxious with every word. "That's exactly it." said Mama. I continued: "I was doing a good job. To you..." "Yes, you were a useful dog. That's why I kept you by my side." She leaned closer to me, looking straight into my eyes, saying: "Even if you're a lying traitor." My eyes widened again as I took a sharp breath. She knew? Then this is all... I... I asked: "Even so, there shouldn't be a problem, right? As long as I'm useful!" I had to cough due to my sharp breaths, but I kept the eye contact. "Yes. It's true that there is no fault with you. This is an unfair dismissal. It's also unfortunate for me. This was unforeseen. I didn't want to let you go until the end." "Then-" She cut me off: "But I have no choice. The situation has changed. From now on, I'll control them by myself." I gritted my teeth, glaring at her. "I'm sorry, Ray. Please forgive me for the things I'm about to do." I gasped once more before throwing myself at her, trying to keep her from moving. But she simply threw me off, then closed the door, locking it. I quickly stood up, calling: "Mama!" I heard her saying: "Stay there for a bit, okay? I'll let you out when I come back." I immediately punched at the door, hearing her say: "Let's see. From the speed of the two signals running through the forest, it must be Emma and Norman. They're heading straight for the fence. I wonder if it's for inspections? And if I'm not mistaken, the signal that's following them at a distance must be (Y/N)." (Y/N)? But that's not... The plan! She wouldn't just leave it to Don and Gilda alone and go after Emma and Norman, right? Right?! She wouldn't, right?! Then, why do I have such a bad feeling about it? I stopped hitting the door. Mama said: "Oh, and I don't care about the chemicals. That's because you'll protect me. For their sake, you won't get me killed. That's why if you wanted to suppress me, you'll definitely use a different method. Goodbye, Ray. Thank you for all your hard work until now." With that, her footsteps got quieter with every step she took. "Damn it!" I yelled, rubbing my head to help me think. "In any case, I have to get out of here!" I kicked the door, but not much happened. "This is the worst!"
