SMASH!
Chunks of metal-spiked wood flew across the Training Yard. Shai held her clenched fist to where the Totem of Death had once been standing. She breathed heavily, her chest heaving. She had been training non-stop for 24hrs, and exhaustion was slowly draining her strength. But, she knew she couldn't stop. Something deep down inside her fuelled her determination to keep going. She walked over to the huge line of Spinning Totems of Death, grabbed one, then dragged it over to where the previous one once stood. Even though Shai's body screamed no, she hit the Totem anyway. This was the only way to prepare herself.-----
Night had fallen; a cool breeze blew, sending shivers up Shai's spine. Her body was now shaking with exhaustion - she could hardly keep herself standing upright. She kicked the Totem with deadly force, turning it to another heap of splinters to add to the giant, ever-growing pile of ruin.
Once her feet hit the ground, Shai collapsed. Every fibre of her body screamed with pain and tiredness - even her blurred vision seemed to tremble. Shai wrapped her tail around herself, she knew there was no use in getting up now she was down. Within seconds, her eyes closed to engulf her in a thick blackness.-----
"Oh, no," a distant, muffled voice exclaimed. "Is she dead?!" Once her hearing wakened properly, it was clear that it was Po who had asked the question.
Shai's red-yellow eyes fluttered open, but she instantly regretted it. The bright, sudden light of a lantern sent a dull, throbbing pain into the backs of her eyes. "What's going on," she asked, her voice dry and croaky.
"The Five went to stop Tai Lung... but they were no match for his nerve attack," Shifu explained as she slowly sat up. "He has grown stronger, Shai." He glanced around at the Totem ruins and sighed. "How long have you been doing this?"
Shai groaned as she tried to work it out in her head. "About... uh, 36hrs. No breaks," she answered.
Shifu shook his head sadly. "Why?"
"Because I needed to," she responded. She glanced over at Po, then back to Shifu. "Is he ready?"
"He has to be."
Po became uneasy. "Ready," he asked worriedly. "Ready for what?"
"Help Shai," Shifu ordered him. "We must get to the Hall of Heroes at once."
