I heard a soft humming noise and felt a gentle rub against my cheek. The presence felt warm, familiar, and it just felt right. I opened my eyes and looked up to see what was making such a beautiful noise.
“G’morning sleepy head!” Savanna smiled wide and looked down at me.
I stretched and yawned. I didn’t remembering falling asleep. I looked around with a puzzled expression on my face.
“When did I pass out?” I looked at her beautiful sky blue eyes. Everything felt right when we stared into each other’s eyes.
I know it’s all weird and feminine for a guy to be all expressive about his feelings for a girl, but damn was I in love. I couldn’t begin to explain what she means to me. I could summarize it; she means everything to me.
She giggled and then gave me the answer “How is it that you always fall asleep on me?”
I blushed lightly and turned away. I looked down at the carpet and something seemed off. I couldn’t place my finger on it.
“Honey, are you okay?” Savanna’s worried tone traveled to my ears.
I shook my head and looked at her. She had these beautiful green eyes that glistened when the light hit them and shined in the moonlight. A small glance below her eyes allowed me to view her countless almost nonexistent freckles. Lower yet and her peach colored lips were visible. She parted them as I glanced at them like she always did, which was just another thing that I found cute about her. I looked back into her eyes and pulled a strand of her auburn brown hair out from her face.
“I’m okay my dear, promise. Sorry I fell asleep,” I always feel bad when fell asleep when I’m spending time with her.
“How many times do I have to tell you to stop apologizing for something you can’t help?” She sighed and smiled. The left side of her smile was just a tad bit higher than the right.
I shrugged and smiled back. I leaned back against the couch that we always hang out on. She scooted closer to me as I wrapped my arm around her shoulders.
“I had the strangest dream,” I looked over at her.
“Oh?”
I went into how I was in the hospital and some strange dude was talking to me, but there was someone else in me. How the pain felt very real and that the strange man told me that he’d see me again.
I looked over at Savanna; her expression said that she was in deep thought. I watched as her thought process came to a halt. She looked over at me and her face lit up into a smile.
“You have weird dreams,” was her simple response, short and to the point.
I smiled and closed my eyes. There was something about this dream that seemed just a little bit too real to me. It was probably nothing anyways, just my weird delusional mind at work.
I looked over at the time and sighed. It was time for me to go. Her mother wouldn’t let me stay over past ten at night. Even though she knows me quite well and that I’ve been with Savanna for the past two years.
I stood up and gave my girlfriend a sad look; we were both thinking the same exact thing. I pulled her up and into my embrace and held her close. She wrapped her arms around me. If this moment could last forever, I’d definitely take it.
“I love you,” I whispered into her ear
“Love you more,” I could feel her smile against my neck.
My life was perfect. I know what I wanted to do with myself for my future. I have a great girlfriend. No, scratch that, I have the perfect girlfriend. She is perfect for me and I am perfect to her. Nothing could tear us apart. The only thing that was off was that dream.
“See you tomorrow?” Savanna looked up at me with a slight worried look.
“Hmm, you’ll have to set up an appointment,” I smiled at her.
“Oh, don’t be an ass, Zayne,” she smiled her cute smile and hit my arm playfully.
I smiled and she walked me to the door. I picked up my bag and gave her another hug before walking out. I waved and walked down her path to my car. I looked back at the house and sighed. I felt empty when I wasn’t with her. When they say you have a other half, they aren’t joking around. Everyone is like a puzzle piece that is searching for the one that fits them. Savanna was my other piece.
I threw my bag in the car and hopped into the driver’s seat. My car was my second love. Lime green Dodge Charger, year; 1968. I smiled as I revved the engine.
I looked over at the house to see Savanna shaking her head and backing away from the window. I chuckled and pulled out of the driveway. I went out towards my road. I lived to far from Savanna for my liking, but if I lived in walking distance of her, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t love my car as much as I do.
