Roman sighed as the servant left the room, leaving the tray of food behind on his bed stand. It had been two days since the king had confined Roman to his room, all the while frantically sending letters to the king and queen of Alríca to bring the wedding to a closer date."Oh come on, I should be allowed to see my brother." Roman recognized Remus' voice on the other side of his door, followed by a deep sigh. The door clicked, and Remus was let in, watched by a guard with a annoyed and bored look on his face.
The guard closed the door.
"Remus?" Roman asked. His brother had come in the day he had been confined to his room, telling him that he would persuade their father to not marry Roman off. "Any luck?"
Remus shook his head, plopping down on Roman's bed and inspecting the food on his bedside table.
"Nope. Sorry," Remus said, grabbing whatever Roman had as food -who haven't even looked at it when it was given to him- and threw it in his mouth.
Roman fell to his bed, his head in his hands. Remus looked over at him worriedly.
"Umm, what if I take your place?" Remus asked. Roman looked over to his brother, expecting to see a playful smirk or even a sneer on his face.
No, Remus was completely serious.
"No. I couldn't let you do that," Roman said. "Besides, that would mean you giving up Janus. I couldn't let that happen. I don't have anyone I would have to give up."
Remus looked at Roman with wonder in his eyes. And a twinge of sadness too.
"Thanks," Remus said, almost as if he didn't know what else to say. "Sorry for... everything."
"It's not your fault."
"I know," Remus said. "I'm still sorry."
Roman smiled sadly. It seemed to be the only smile he could do at the moment.
"Thanks, Remus."
