Today is the day. My best friend, Moon Byul-yi, has finally settled down in her new home with her new husband, Lee Jung-hwan. While Byul-yi and I have been close friends since we were children, we haven't had much time to spend together. But today was the day. She invited me over for lunch with her, B1A4's Jung-hwan, and his best friend, Kim Seokjin.
Knowing those three, they were going to "dress-to-impress", so I had to throw together an outfit that would do just that. In the end, the only "fashionable" clothing I owned were my office clothes.....I felt so lame. But I couldn't afford anything else. So I went with it.
Getting to Byul-yi's apartment building, I noticed that the only way up to her apartment was through a large elevator in the center of the lobby. Guarding the elevator was a bellman and behind the front desk, the concierge eyes me. He probably thought that I was out of place with the luxurious décor and the arranged flowers placed in every corner.
I cleared my throat and walked confidently towards the concierge. I could feel him looking down on me, but I wasn't going to let his rudeness get in the way of seeing my best friend.
"May I help you?" His accent almost sounded French.
"My name is y/n. I'm here to see Byul-yi." I felt my body flinch as he checked his records for visitors.
"I'm sorry....but your name does not appear on the list."
"What...?! That's impossible! I have a personal invitation!" I couldn't contain my frustration. While I wished to see Byul-yi, I couldn't help but realize I wouldn't see Seokjin either. Even though I had never told anyone my true feelings, I longed to gaze upon the most handsome face in the world.
The bellman ushers me out. Standing outside the entrance, I shuffle through my bag, looking for my phone so I could call Byul-yi. But my phone was missing. I spin around, realizing I had left my phone on the counter near the concierge.
I push my way back in, sprinting to the front desk. I needed to get my phone back. I was almost there when the bellman stopped me.
"You need to leave. This is no place for your type." Blocking my path with his large body, I knew I couldn't just slip by.
Just as the bellman was about to put his hand on my shoulder, the hand of a tall handsome figure grabs his, stopping the bellman in his tracks.
"It's rude to put your hands on a person without their permission." His condescending smile left the bellman shaken. "Shall we?" He motions me toward the front desk and personally escorts me to my lonely phone sitting inches away from the concierge.
Then he leads me to the elevator, flashing a sinister glare at the bellman to do his job. The bellman hurriedly races over to operate the elevator. Once we are inside, the handsome gentleman instructs the bellman to take us to level 7, Byul-yi's level.
"I assume you are y/n, Byul-yi's friend. I'm Seokjin, by the way." His face was clear of all malice when he spoke to me. His duality was surprising, yet his gentleness not only made me feel safe, but made my heart race too.

Lunch with Byul-yi and her husband Jung-hwan was the most fun I had had in months. We exchanged stories and laughs that left our stomachs aching.
Just as dessert was being served, Seokjin's cell rang. Looking at the caller ID, he frowns.
"I'm sorry everyone. I need to go. I'll call you later Jung-hwan." He gives a reassuring smile. He glances at me, giving a quick wink before heading for the elevator. My heart sank. I didn't want him to leave. I heard Byul-yi, giggle to herself. I'm sure she noticed it too.
I pretend like I wasn't bothered by Seokjin leaving and go on to enjoy the strawberry shortcake in front of me.

I stayed for another hour and decided that it might be a good time to head home. Being just the three of us was starting to feel weird watching them being so lovey-dovey.
Without Byul-yi noticing, I stride over to the window as I pick up my bag and gaze out on the city. Looking down on the street, I notice someone on the other side, gazing up at the very window I was standing in. It was Seokjin!
He smiles and waves me down. I smile, my heart beating hard in my chest. I wave back and decide that this is the perfect time to tell him that I love him. With butterflies in my stomach, I blow him a quick kiss and head for the elevator to meet him.
