Chapter 9: Wishes and Promises

The night went well. Except my parents didn't tell me I was going out for a dinner to talk about my marriage. I didn't see that coming.

He was good guy, he seems understanding maybe we're going through the same things. I have to marry him for he will manage the company and he has to marry me to inherit their family business. It's a win win situation.

I don't have to love him I can always get a divorce after all this. Marry 'the one' if there is.

I walked to the restroom to take a quick shower and tell my parents that it is all settled.

While I was in the shower one thing kept repeating in my mind, " make your parents proud, marry me." his words kept hitting me like damn I really have to do this.

This is the next step in forgetting Marcus. Maybe one day he'll just be the guy who played with my feelings and who knows karma might hit him a few times.

My phone buzzed and it says I have 1 text from mom. This is not good. What if they left again without saying goodbye personally.

From: Mom

Honey sorry for not telling you, it was just a last minute we had to fly. How did the dinner go last night? Let's discuss it over dinner when we get back alright? We love you.

I was not shocked or anything they always do the same things over and over again. I changed my clothes and head down to eat breakfast.

"Nanny, where did they go this time?" I didn't know I was sad until I saw my reflection in the mirror poking the plate with my hand on my head.

"I don't know dear." She replied giving me a week smile.

After eating I decide to call Meg. Maybe shopping will clear my mind. That's what I do everytime they leave without saying a word, instead of crying it out I just shop it out.

"Hey i'll pick you up shopping." I knew she was game for it.

I checked my keys and drive straight to Meg's house. I texted her not wanting to piss the neighbors by honking the horn of my car.

She came out of the door all dressed up. I hope I'm not under dress though. I think I should get revenge on her for messing with me every single time possible. I locked the door to see her reaction she was literally breaking the handle when I started laughing tapping the steering wheel. When I sensed she was mad I opened it and bite my lips to prevent myself from laughing.

"But you should admit tho. Your face." I say in between laughs. I switch the engine and head to the mall. I couldn't stop laughing the whole ride was silent but deep inside I was still laughing. I just couldn't move on from a joke that I made.

I was cut off when she started to speak. "How was the date last night?" She asked. Well it's good to know she cares. "It was a friendly dinner." I corrected her.

"Why are you smiling like an idiot now?" She asked. Sounding a not bitter. "Well it was good I'm not murdered." I said before parking the car.

"How did it go?" She repeated. How many times do I have to tell her its good. All went smooth.

"You know that cocky guy in the party two nights ago? Remember him?" I asked. "Yes, the guy you hated the most. The guy you told the frog to murder?" She asked making me sound like I'm a little kid talking to my frog friend.

"Yes him. He was the guy I had dinner with last night. And we're." I stop not sure if I can tell her. Of course I can she's like my sister, but she might think I'm doing this to get revenge on Marcus. I'll tell her eventually but not now.
