The sirens were sounding, it stepped down the street carelessly, sending vibrations through the ground. The people who saw it ran, it found amusement in this. It locked it's attention quickly, she could smell the fear coming off of someone in waves. She quickly found her target, a man in his mid-thirties,he was running grasping something small in his arms. The frost giant smiled.
~
The man ran, he couldn't care less about himself, but he couldn't let the beast reach his daughter. He couldn't afford to stop running, he had to continue. He was gasping for air, but he had to make distance, he had to find a place to hide his daughter. He ran all the while whispering, "Good girl, just a little longer, stay quiet a little longer okay?" After running for what seemed like an eternity, the man was finally a little further away, he seized this moment. Luckily, his house was near by. He ran into it, laid down his daughter who stared at him with wide eyes. "It's going to be okay, just be quiet a little longer for daddy okay?" The man said with a shaky voice. He gave his daughter her pacifier. Then quickly grabbed a knife from the kitchen, he knew he had to make a stand, if he didn't his daughter would surely die. As he exited the house, he could see the Frost giant in the distance. As he locked eyes with the giant he started to run. I have to lead it away from the house. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, keeping distance, but also remaining just in range to lure the giant and make sure it was tailing.
Finally, after running on for a while, the man stopped in the town square. He caught his breath as the giant steadily gained on him, he gulped as he tightened his grip around the knife. The giant stood 8 feet tall, walking forward confidently with a devious grin plastered on her face. She knew, the more fear someone was under, the more desperate they were, and thus the harder they'll fight. The giant came to a stop three meters out from the man, she could virtually smell the fear radiating off of him as he tried to will himself to stop shaking. The Giant stood confidently as she dropped most of her equipment to the floor, the only thing that had remained in her hand being a steel baton. The man gulped. Out of the three weapons she had on her, the other two being twin scythes and an iron mace, this seemed to be the least lethal option. Even then, he couldn't help but feel panic as he stood in front of the giant. He had never even seen a monster from a dead zone before, unless it was already dead of course, nonetheless would he have ever imagined he'd ever be fighting one.
He was sweating, shaking, and unsure of his own abilities, but he couldn't fall just yet. I have to at least distract her, no matter what I cannot allow her to find Kira. He knew he was no match, he knew he stood no chance, but in that moment he felt his fears melt away. He had to make a stand, he had to fight here. That mentality did not last.
As he readied himself the giant leaped forward, swinging her baton in one precise, steady movement. As the baton connected with his arm he heard a sickening crack, and looked down to see pieces of bone sticking out through his left arm. He didn't scream, he didn't falter, he instead forced his knife forward with his right arm. The giant despite being in more than close quarters was more than successful in parrying his knife. She laughed, This foolish human really wasn't anything special after all. The giant smelled the scent of the man's blood on the air. At least he will make a decent snack. The giant backed away leaving herself completely open, a smile still plastered against her cold face. She wanted to enjoy this, playing with her food after all, makes hunting all the more worthwhile. The man stood, he steadied his arm and begun to walk forward. I need to buy time, the Viper will be here soon... The man could not let this monster find his daughter, he had to hold out. As he walked forward he knew he had no chance, he was down an arm and didn't have any advanced combat training whatsoever. All he had to do was survive.
He picked up the knife in what he could only assume was a defensive stance, he tried to move his broken arm, but to no avail. I'll have to make do with what I have. He bit into his tongue, he knew this wasn't going to be easy in the slightest. He exhaled. The giant stared into him mockingly, she smiled again, this time boasting her dastardly teeth.
That hope he feels... It'll be all the better to break him. The frost giant bound towards the man, her blood lust nearly radiating off of her. She reared her left arm back and brought her baton down on the man in a single swift motion, he just barely managed to back step and parry the baton. His right shoulder left numb from the impact of the blow. He staggered and the Giant wasted no time swinging her baton once more into the man's chin. There was a sickening crack as the man stumbled backwards, but just barely stopped himself from falling. He could feel his jaw run slack and reached for it instinctively, but he stopped himself. This doesn't matter, I just need to buy time, I can worry about this later. The man had just barely recovered from the blow to see the giant swiping yet again. He once more felt the cool steel grace his skin, this time his right side was greeted with the blow. He winced in pain as he heard a sickening crunching, he looked own to see his side seemingly caving in. He could feel the pinching inside his chest, but he swung his arm once more. The giant seemingly danced around his blow, and delivered another swift blow. The man couldn't feel his arm, as the sheer force of the blow tore and stretched the skin at his shoulder. He looked to see his arm hanging by threads of skin and pouring blood, he could see his shoulder bones from the inside fragmented. He started to gag, and the giant smiled. That's it, now you're sure to lose hope.
I just have to survive a little longer. He looked away and grimaced as he brought his knife to his shoulder. In one swift motion he cut through the skin, stifling his want to scream as his arm hit the floor. The giant looked upon him, excitement dancing across her face and filling her eyes. She readied her baton, a sickening crack was heard as she brought the baton against the man, quickly he caught it with his side and threw his arm forward. The knife nearly close enough to pierce skin before he felt her hands around him. The giant stared at him, her eyes filled with joy as she lifted him. She couldn't wait much longer to taste him. The man tried his best to flail. Just a little bit longer. The giant picked him up further until he was above her, somewhere around 9 feet up. They'll be here any second now, I'll see my daughter again. The giant's arm came down and brought the man against her lips. They're going to be here. She opened her mouth and bit down, the sickening cracks of ribs, and the sound of flesh mashing together was only made further unpleasant by the sound of screams. The screams of someone who didn't want to die. The giant threw the man on the ground, part of his chest and stomach now missing, his eyes glossy and cold having embraced death. His organs spilling out over his fragmented ribs, his blood spilling freely out of every orifice including his mouth. I will see her again, they will be here. The man laid still, and so did the town. The giant now wore a scowl. Until the end he tasted like hope. She sneered and spit on his corpse. Humans really are disgusting after all.
The giant picked up her gear, contemplating whether the small child he had with him would be any tastier, she smirked thinking about it. As she turned, a figure kneeling next to his body caught her attention. The figure closed his eyelids, and then stood slowly turning towards the giant. The figure stood in a cloak wearing a mask portraying sorrow. "You truly are a monster." They pulled their gloves back over their blood stained hands. "Let me tell you something," The figure said in a gravelly, cold voice. The giant stood in place, she was shocked. How did this fool get there? "I wonder if you knew, there are also monsters among humans." The figure brought their gloved slender hand to their mask. They slowly started to peel it away from their face, a consuming darkness extended from the figure, obscuring everything from the Giant's view. The figure continued to pull off the mask while advancing. "You are really unlucky, for you have just run into one of the biggest monsters among humans." The Giant heard the raspy voice whispered all around her as she tried desperately to cover her ears, to look away, anything but stand still. Finally, the mask was slid off to reveal a slender long face covered in darkness, save for the eyes, those terrible horrid silver eyes, leaking insanity so deep the giant couldn't comprehend it. She was locked still in fear. The figure stopped inches in front of her, and whispered. "I'm not sure if you know my name," An unnerving smile appeared across the length of their face. "but I am the boogeyman." The words seemed to rebound throughout wherever she was, followed by the image of that terrible face. The giant screeched in terror briefly before feeling something cold enter her neck. She fell to the floor grasping at her neck, blood pouring over her hands. She struggled for a few moments desperately, before she went still. The figure stood holding their mask in their free hand, his face then became apparent against the bleak sky. His long slender face sported silver eyes which radiated sadness, tears falling against his light brown skin. His curly untamed hair fell loosely across the top of his head. He walked back to the body and stared down upon the man while shedding solemn tears, "I'm sorry I was late." He wiped his tears, trying to hold them back. He had a child to save, and he couldn't let them see him cry. Especially after their father did so much to keep them alive.~
After searching for a few minutes Gyro heard a soft cooing, he slowly walked into the house and approached quietly. This was that man's daughter, Gyro felt immense sadness looking at her, she resembled her father. He stifled his tears and instead picked up the baby. He took his mask off and looked at her. She looked at him and smiled softly and quietly before starting to laugh. "Your daddy protected you," Gyro couldn't help but smile, this baby reminded him of his own son. "Don't worry Kira, I'll bring you to your mommy." The baby laughed and coo'd. Gyro smiled outwardly for her, but on the inside he only felt sorrow.
