CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

-: sixth year :-

── IN WHICH IT'S THE END OF TERM

. . .

"Miss Beaumont?" Elodie's train of thought was interrupted by Professor McGonagall, who was currently trying to teach her Transfiguration. "Is there something so interesting that it's worth more than your education?"

"No... sorry Professor." Elodie was actually thinking about something that she considered far more important than turning a pawn chess piece into a queen. She was thinking about the egg, and the ball that was in less than a few days.

She was yet to test out her theory on what was inside that egg, what the screaming was and what it actually meant. However, if her theory was correct, then she would just have to ask the twins how she could get it underwater far enough.

"There she goes again." Fred whispered, and both George and Elodie looked over. "Thinking about me again, darling?" He cocked an eyebrow over at Elodie, who shook her head.

"Always, sweetheart." Her voice practically dripped with sarcasm, and Fred winked, before McGonagall tapped on the edge of her table with their wand.

"Mr Weasley, is this your attempt?" McGonagall held up a rather mangled looking pawn. "Have you ever played chess before?" She continued and Fred blushed slightly, Elodiee covering up her laugh with a cough.

"Professor, I'm not sure if you've played Wizard's Chess, but that's pretty much how a peice looks after a game." Fred replied, and scattered laughter echoed across the classroom.

"Very funny, Mr Weasley. I suppose you'll be acting like this during the Yule Ball?" McGonagall replied, and beside him, George laughed. "I hope you're not planning on acting like this and embarassing Miss Beaumont."

"Oh, she won't let him." George choked on his laughter, and his brother and his date glared over at him. "What? It's that or Fleur."

Fred made a face and sat back in his seat. "To be fair, Fleur would skin you alive." Elodie chuckled to herself, and Fred looked practically horrified.

McGonagall smirked slightly, before disappearing, leaving the group of three to discuss their pawn to queen transformations, or not.

"There's only ten more minutes." George whined, staring at the clock above McGonagall's head. "Then we're free."

"You make it sound like we're in prison." Elodie mumbled and Fred smiled. "I mean..  it's better then being trapped in that stupid carriage house thing all the time."

"That thing is ginormous." Fred chimed in, and him and George chuckled, Elodie rolling her eyes.

"Grow up." She mumbled, Fred laughing, reaching out and ruffling her hair. "Hey!" She half-yelled, shrinking back down when she saw McGonagall's face.

"You love us really." Fred chimed, and Elodie shrugged, her turn to laugh, as she watched the twins pout. "Come on, we'll have dinner early and then drag you up to the common room." Fred said, as soon as the bell rang.

For a while now, this had been their nightly routine. Elodie wouldn't sit with Fleur as much, who was completely fine with it - seeing as she was spending as much time as she could getting to know Rodger Davies before the ball.

In fact, it seemed that the Beauxbatons champion becoming friends with the twins and then sitting with them during the meal times started what Professor Dumbledore was talking about, with inter-school relationships.

With her doing that, it appeared that now, the Beauxbaton students weren't just sat at the Ravenclaw table, and the Durmstrang students weren't just at the Slytherin table. In fact, There was such a mix that it made Elodie rather proud.

"Talk to us in French." Fred said, as soon as they sat down at their usual area at the table. Elodie made a face, and the boy just shrugged. "I think it's pretty."

Elodie blushed furioiusly, taking some of the yorkshire pudding and cottage pie. "Well what would you like me to say in French?" She asked, a small smile on her face.

"I want you to say... Fred Weasley is very handsome." Fred balanced his chin on his palm, looking across the table at the girl, who was pointedly staring down at her food, filling her fork and eating it.

"Fred Weasley is a.. admittedly, very handsome dickhead." Elodie said, and across from her, Fred beamed, having no idea what she was saying.

Down the table slightly, another student from Beauxbatons giggled, staring up the table at Elodie, and Fred frowned. "What did you say?" He asked, and he watched as Elodie hid a smile.

"Exactly what you told me to say." Elodie said, a glint in her eye. And no matter how much Fred pestered her, she wouldn't tell him.

But maybe she would one day.
