                               1014 A.D.

It's only been four  years since...

Only four years since it all started

It has only been four years since I joined a group of Vikings to serve , Lucius Artorius Castus or more known by his nickname, Askeladd to be his shield.

A thick rotten smell was in the air, who knows how long it smelt like that. months, years maybe? I thought laying on the ground of the stables, not caring about the flies that refreshed my body. My stomach rumbled for the third time today, but at this place hunger never seemed to bother me; it had been a constant occurrence.

But a dark shadow covered the wave of the searing sun drilling into my back. A second later cold water blessed my skin, cooling my core. "Don't tell me you're dead already." a harsh voice yelled as they yanked me by my hair; the agonizing sensation gradually set in.

"Come on, we have a very important customer today." they shouted as they grabbed another handful of my hair. My body leaned into them attempting to keep myself rightside up while being pulled into the room, I practically tuned out the individual.

As I stumbled forward, the hand suddenly vanished, giving me a few seconds of relief. My gaze was drawn to a blonde man wielding a sword and wearing an intriguing chestplate. " this one might come in handy" since his parents have sold him, He's been causing a lot of problems".

The way time seemed to pass during their conversation, with the blonde man saying little and the other talking nonsensically until the blonde man tossed him a sack of coins. A woman I'd seen a few times at the farm grabbed my wrist and led me towards the massive foreign ships.

The other guys were eating their meals inside the huts, leaving the ships unoccupied. The woman walked me towards the main ship. The woman looked around as if she was looking for something, then placed a small sack into my pocket before continuing to guide me towards the main ship that was huge with a prominent dragon engraved onto the front. Once on the deck of the massive ship, she let go of my wrist and gave me one last fleeting glance before turning around.

As the sun began to fall, I collapsed to the rough wooden floor and watched the waves roll back and forth. Until I observed movement further down the ship out of the corner of my eye. I go up to get a better look and notice a boy about my age using two daggers to etch deep markings on the ship. I stood back and observed his tactics.

I kept watching until I noticed a group of men approaching the ship. I crept near the ship's back, behind the barrels that had been placed earlier, until I felt something brush up against me. I turned to face the blonde man who had approached me earlier.

As I backed away from the blonde man, my muscles stiffened but he didn't move or try to pursue me; instead, he remained in the same place as before.

He sits on one of the barrels while I keep my distance from him, " A man, slave to gold, holds a whip and beats the slave he bought with that gold as if HE is the master. He doesn't see it for himself, but every living human is a slave to something" He said while gazing at the warm sky.

He sighs as he stands up, "get some rest we have a long journey ahead of us". Soon the vikings came back and the boat sailed into the longing harsh waters;the harsh waters turned calm as the boat rocked back and forth. The quietness made me realize how tired I was, how quickly the calming night aided my slipping consciousness.
