Annie's POV

After class, we walk down the second floor hallway— directionless, following footsteps to take us away. Along the way, Mikasa continually praises me for my skill at playing the Sonata. She also said that it was like she was watching Beethoven in person. It turns my face flushed red. There is no compliment or flattery that can make me fall, except when it comes to music. Especially, if I'm compared with my idol, Ludwig Van Beethoven.

"Oh, Annie, who taught you to play music?" Mikasa asked.

"My father."

"Really?! Amazing!" Her face was full of enthusiasm when she said this.

I just nod and wait for her to speak again.

"Could I come to your house sometime? I want to meet your mother and if possible, your father too." She said— smiling broadly.

Hearing that, my steps stopped. My breath is locked.

Meet my parents?

I still haven't answered her question and it seems, she knows my reaction is different right now.

"Forgive me. I don't mean to." She said pitifully.

I take my breath deep enough. Enough to restore my mind from sadness and madness.

"It's okay. As for my mother, she has long been dead. And as for my father, I've never seen him any longer."

I give her a smile between my words. However, judging by her gesture, Mikasa isn't a fool who could be easily duped with a fake smile.

"If you want someone to talk to, just remember, I'm always there for you. Anywhere! Anytime!" She held my hands— staring at me with her gorgeous black eyes.

Her expression is full of joy. She also gives me a big smile. A smile adorned with sincerity— etched into every curve. Not only that, I also feel surge of exultation that I had never felt before.

She is amazing!

"Hello, Annie. Are you okay?" She asked— snapping her fingers.

"Eh, yes?"

"SERIOUSLY?!" She said with an annoyed face.

I chuckle seeing her reaction— making her sigh deeply before finally softening up— laughing with me.

"Ah, yes. Annie, let's go to the canteen. I want to introduce you to my friends." She said— stop laughing.

Hearing that, I fall silent. If Mikasa wants to introduce me to her friends, that means including him.

"Sorry, Mikasa, but I still have other things to do. I'll be there later." I replied in a plain tone.

"Oh, come one! It's already time for a break!" She said irritably.

However, I remain steadfastly not to come to the canteen with her. I broaden the lie by saying that I have to meet with Mr. Erwin to discuss additional classes. After hearing what I said, Mikasa finally relents. Before leaving, she forces me to catch up after I finish my business. I just nod and give her little smile— just to make sure she believes it all.

After that, we part ways and go in opposite directions. I reopen the college map— planning my next destination.

Where should I start?
