What was once a lobby
Was now a portal to our ballroom
With colorful lights, tables of food
All in formal attireA pleasant dissimilarity
From the white lab coats and blue scrubs
My paling skin painted with makeup
My newly grown hair in curlsThe DJ's playlist made us forget
About our dying bodies and worries
We dance, and sing, and shout
Their IV poles have turned into flowersI don't know their names
But tonight, they are my friends
A boy dances with me in his arms
As if tonight, I am his newly weddedYesterday's pain is history
Tomorrow is not promised
But tonight, we celebrate our milestones
Even though we haven't reached them yet
