Triangle : A post crisis story

VIII

(Three months later)

Life continued as normal, Barry and Kara taking on any evil meta humans with the occasional help from Cisco or Ralph, Caitlin assisting Felicity on comms due to her being pregnant. Caitlin and Barry had been to the doctor for a sonograph and were pleasantly surprised to find out that they were having twins, Caitlin and Barry had decided that they would like to keep the genders a secret till the birth. Kara helped Barry convert one of the spare rooms into a nursery, the job being done in a matter of minutes.

(Four Months later) 

Caitlin is now over eight months pregnant and has taken to sleeping on the bed in the nursery room since her sixth month of pregnancy, as she wanted a lot more space to herself, of course Barry and Kara offered to move and let her have the master bed to herself but she refused insisting that she would shift to the nursery as she would eventually be spending a lot of time there when the babies were born. This meant that Kara had Barry all to herself every night since and she took full advantage of that fact.

Kara was currently waiting in bed for Barry, she had found out that she was pregnant a few days ago and had taken a trip to National City to tell her parents the news, before going to Barry’s parents’ house to give them the good news as well. Barry had stayed behind to deal with any meta human problems and to look after Caitlin who was approaching her due date. Barry was unaware that Kara was pregnant and Kara was waiting for him to return so that she could tell him. She had almost fallen asleep before he flashed in, having a wash before joining Kara under the sheets, she turned towards him kissing him while rolling them over so that he was on his back and she was straddling him, he moved to kiss her neck but she stopped him, “babe wait, there is something I need to tell you before I lose my confidence.” He sits up slowly she is still on his lap straddling him, “what’s wrong babe?” he asks, “nothing, at least I hope nothing’s wrong” she says hurriedly before calming down and continuing “it’s just that you’re going to be a dad.” He chuckles before leaning in to kiss her, “I know I’m going to be a dad, it’s kind of hard to miss with Cait being over eight months pregnant” “not what I meant” she replies rolling her eyes lovingly. “Then what?.....” he asks confused, until it suddenly clicks “wait are you….?” He begins to ask, “yes” she cuts him off with a big smile “I found out only a few days ago and today I went to tell your and my par…..” she continued before he cut her off with a kiss, rolling over so that she was under him and he was between her legs. Both of them getting lost in the pleasure of each other celebrating the night away. Next morning they told Caitlin their news, who was happy for them and started crying while hugging Kara, her hormones a mess due to the pregnancy.

It was three days later that Caitlin went into labor, after a few hours their twins were born, a boy and a girl. Barry walked out of the room where Caitlin was resting, heading towards the waiting room where Kara, Henry, Nora, Joe, Cisco, Felicity and Caitlin’s parents were waiting. Barry led them to Caitlin’s room where she was resting with two cots near her bed both containing one baby Allen. Barry made his way to his son who was born first, carefully picking him up before handing him to Henry saying “meet our first born, your grandson Ace Henry Allen” before going to the other cot, carefully lifting his daughter before handing her to Nora saying “and this little princess is Evelyn Nora Allen.” Both grandparents has tears in their eyes as they cradled their grandchildren with the others crowding around them to get a good look at the two new born children all wanting to hold them. Barry was standing by Caitlin’s side looking with love at their family, Kara walked up to Barry giving him a kiss on the cheek (because Caitlins parents didn’t know about their relationship) and hugging Caitlin in congratulations.

Caitlin smiled at her “just eight more months and you will be here in my place.” Kara smiled before answering “I’m patiently waiting for that day, but until then I plan on getting as much practice as I can helping you with those two bundles of joy.” True to her word Kara helped Caitlin with everything, learning the ropes and caring for Evelyn and Ace as if they were her own, Barry helping where he could but dealing with meta humans and keeping the city safe was very time consuming.

Months passed and Kara’s due date was arriving, Barry had Kara had found out during the sonograph that it was a girl; another cot was added to the nursery in preparation for the newest member of the Allen family. Eventually Kara had gone into labor, her labor did not last as long as Caitlin’s did and once again he found himself walking down the corridor to the waiting room where Barry’s parents,  Kara’s adoptive parents, Caitlin, Alex, Clark (Superman) , Cisco and Felicity were waiting (Evelyn and Ace having been left with the nannies). Barry led them into the room before going to the cot and picking up his new born daughter before handing her to Nora saying “I’d like you all to meet Grace Alura Allen.” Barry moved to stand by Kara’s side as everyone crowded around wanting to hold the newborn child. Caitlin of course making her way, kissing Barry and hugging Kara in congratulations.

(2 years later)

Our trio along with Barry’s parents are enjoying a quiet afternoon in the garden; Ace, Evelyn and Grace were sitting on the short grass playing with their toys. It was the anniversary of Oliver’s death and Barry was in a somber mood, until Evelyn crawled towards him a toy grasped in her tiny hand, waving it around babbling “dada, dada” raising her hands indicating that she wants to be carried. Kara, Caitlin and Nora look on at the scene in front of them with adoration, Evelyn already had Barry wrapped around her little finger. Barry stood and picked up Evelyn walking with her towards her siblings, because that is how our trio had decided to raise them, they three children along with any other future ones (considering that Caitlin and Kara had both said that they wanted more children) would be raised as siblings and they would refer to both Caitlin and Kara as their mother. Barry sat down near Ace and Grace with Evelyn sitting in his lap, Barry sits with his children watching them play. He looks up to the sky giving thanks to Oliver for his sacrifice also thanking any other higher power for blessing him with such two wonderful wives, three amazing kids (with hopefully more on the way) a loving family and amazing friends. He looks up at the sky one more time vowing to follow Oliver’s example, to do whatever he can to keep his loved ones safe.
