Chapter 6

Nico holds my hand. I smile at him. I feel the metal climbing to my chest. I hide my panic that threatens to reveal me. We look at the water and I lean my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes and breath in deeply through my nose taking in his sweet scent most girls would scrunch their nose at. To me he smelled like nature. I snuggled up to him and he put an arm around my waist. "Since when are you so bony?" Nico asks. I stiffen. I pull out of his grasp. "Excuse me." I say and get up. I quickly walk to my cabin. "Wait! (Y/N)! What did I say?!" Nico asks. I start running and slam the door behind me. I rush to my bed and climb in and curl up in a ball. I hug my pillow close to my chest. I bury my face in it. I take deep breaths. There's a rapid knock on the door. "(Y/N)! (Y/N) let me in!" Nico demands. I ignore his pleas. Suddenly it stops and Nico's arguing with someone. "What makes you thunk she would talk to you if she won't talk to me?!" Nico demands. "Nico, just let me try." the person pleas. Nico grumbles but it sounds like he agrees. "(Y/N)! It's Leo!" he says. "Come in!" I yell. Leo quickly slips inside before shutting the door behind him locking it. "You should've seen his face." Leo says laughing. I glare at him and he smiles cockily. "He noticed it." I say. His face turns confused. "What?" he asks. I roll my eyes. "He said I felt bony." I say. He looks at me seriously. "You need to wait 'till you can control it until anyone can touch you at all. Even holding hands might expose you. Tomorrow it'll probably be almost done and then you'll be scally. You'll need to wear a hoodie or something to hide your face." Leo informs. I nod and put my hands in my face. "Why me? Why is this happening to me?" I ask him. He pulls me into a hug. I cry into his shoulder. "We don't know why things happen to us but we just have to trust something amazing will come out of this." Leo says soothingly. I look in his eyes. "Thanks Leo. You're my best friend." I say with a slight smile. I hug him tightly. I release him and we walk out. Nico opens his arms to hug me but I step back one foot in the cabin. He frowns and drops his arms. "(Y/N)?" he asks. I look down and feel it rising past my chest spreading to my arms. "I gotta go." I say and rush past him. I go to the forest. "I gotta embrace it. It's me now. I'm it. We are one." I tell myself as I walk deep into the forest. I feel my wings begging to break out. It starts to increase rapidly. I feel it go to my fingertips and all over my face, my head. I feel my tail grow and my wings grow. I let them break out of the turtle neck. I feel the transformation. Since I excepted it I became a dragon faster. I open my eyes and feel the metal turn scally. I smile. I'm a dragon but in the form of a girl. I grin. I'm a Drean and nothing's going to change that.
