"It's the Salamander!" I heard a distance voice yell, fan-girling, as well as other yelling similar things. I looked around for a moment trying to see where the commotion was coming from as I left the small magic items store. I headed to the center of the town and found a large crowd.
"Salamander?" I questioned for a moment and recalled a certain Fairy Tail mage being referred to as that. "It couldn't actually be him could it?" I said aloud to myself again as I turned and made my way towards the excited screams. After a moment I made my way to the large crowd of people that seemed to be surrounding something, my assumption was that it's where the Salamander was.
"Aha, calm down ladies. I'll be here for a while there is no need to fight." I heard an unfamiliar voice say at the center. I tried to make my way towards the center to see who exactly everyone was so excited about.
As I was fighting my way to the center, I felt as though something was off, the voice wasn't that of the Fairy Tail mage known as Salamander. I finally made it to where I was standing right in front of the man at the center. Although I was looking at his back, he definitely wasn't Salamander. "Who, are you?" I asked in a confused tone.
The man turned around, thrown back by my question. "Well, lovely lady, I'm the one and only Salamander." He answered as he did a slight bow, grabbing my hand and kissing the top of it.
Although I knew this man wasn't who he claimed to be, there was something about him that made me lose my senses for a moment. What's going on? I thought to myself. Why do I feel so drawn to this guy?
"Is it really the Salamander?" I heard a small voice, full of excitement ask. It drew my attention away from the strange man and just as I turned my head to see where it was coming from, a blonde young boy that managed to push his way past the crowd of crazy women. "Huh? You aren't Natsu." He said in a disappointed tone.
Wait, did he say Natsu? I thought to myself as I saw this young boy, clearly disappointed that there was a fraud in front of him. I turned to look once again at the man that had drawn the crowd in the first place. I don't know what changed, but I found myself not drawn the man in the center of the crowd any more.
Before I could ask him who he really was, he created fire around him that caused the crowd to take a step back. "Now then, I must prepare for tonight." The fire he created around him started to carry him out of the crowd and as he flew away, he yelled "Hope to see you all there!"
The crowd quickly dispersed, Hargeon quickly went to having a loud commotion to being the usual rather calm town. I turned towards the young boy that had been so disappointed at the sight of the impostor and walked closer to him. I crouched down so that I was more at eye level with the boy. "Hi there, I see we were both disappointed in the supposed Salamander, huh?"
He let out a small sign as he shook his head. "I should have known it wasn't really him."
"Sting!" I heard another small voice yell from the other end of the street. I looked up and saw another young boy, this one with black hair, and two cats flying behind him.
"You can't just run off, Sting!" The red flying cat yelled as the three of them ran towards us. He flew ahead of the boy and the other cat and landed at the blonde boy's, or I suppose Sting's, side
"Sorry Lector, I heard everyone saying that Salamander was here. So, I thought I would get to meet Natsu." Sting said, trying to look less disappointed than he really was.
The black haired boy stopped right behind the red cat, who I'm guessing was Lector, while the other cat landed next to the boy. "You worried Lector." He said in a soft, quiet tone. He then took a moment and looked at me. "Who are you?" He asked with a rather emotionless expression as he picked up and held the other cat, which was green although seemed to be wearing a pink frog costume, close to him.
"Hi, I'm Lucy." I smiled.
"What did you mean when you said 'we were both disappointed'?" Sting asked, turning back towards me.
"Oh," I paused for a moment, caught off guard for a second. "I was hoping that it was Natsu actually. I was making my way to visit some childhood friends and stopped at a local magic shop here, on my way. Foolishly, I got excited thinking he was here." I told them and stood back up. "Tho I should have known honestly that it wasn't him." I shrugged, as I laughed to myself at the thought the faint noise came from both the boys' stomachs. I let out a laugh again as they both looked a bit embarrassed.
"Sounds like you guys are hungry." I paused and thought for a moment, remembering that one of my favorite cafes to visit whenever I've passed through was just around the corner. "How about we get some food, my treat." I smiled at the four of them and turned to walk towards the cafe that was at the end of the road. Not hearing any footsteps I stopped and glanced behind me, "Come on, you guys need to eat and you can't tell me you're not hungry." I told them as I laughed more to myself than anything. They started to walk behind me and I led them to Lemon Drop Cafe.
