"How about, we just ignore the note and come up with a plan ourselves," Jake suggested.
"Good idea" Katie replied, a disappointed smile on her face.
"Chin up. We don't have to save the forest their way. We can just improvise."
"Thanks," Katie said a shy smile on her face.
"For what?" Jake asked.
"For being here for me, and comforting me"
"No problem." Jake stood up and hugged Katie, she stiffened and slowly melted into the hug.
They stood there for some time, swaying with the wind. When finally they reluctantly pulled apart.
"Let's move on," Jake said, breaking their awkward silence, a slight blush on his face.
"Right" Katie replied equally red. They repacked their bags and set off, back on the path.
