A WEEK LATER

Natalie POV

I've been up from sleep thirty minutes ago and no one is present in my room. Arisca and Celia are the ones who have been keeping me company after I recovered from the sleeping shid. I've been told I slept for one long month. That was very relaxing though. My lazy eyes always needed more sleep and nature was kind enough to spare me four weeks which consisted of thirty one days, forty four thousand-six hundred and forty minutes and two million, six hundred and seventy-eight thousand, four hundred seconds. I'm very excited I was able to get the sleep I've been dreaming of. It was very unfortunate that I had to be hit by a car for that to happen. Seriously, I need to start thinking of better things. I remember when I used to complain to Arisca and Celia that I don't get the best of sleeps and I wish time would cease ticking around me so I can sleep for a long while and still wake up to do things on time. They'd always tell me that I have to die first before that can happen. Thank God I didn't die. It was just a long sleep. How would I be able to flex on Lexis if I'd died? Like by now, that opportunist of a slut would be digging her ways back into his life.

I felt Lexis' touch through my hard times. I could hear him read bible verses and stories to me as though my eyes were wide open. I also heard him sing to me on countless occasions. I must say, he doesn't have a pleasant voice. He couldn't even sing a song without manufacturing his own lyrics, but I loved the gesture. My spirit dampened whenever I heard him cry out like a child. Sometimes, he'd hold my hands to pray with me but the prayers turns to mournings. He sometimes cry and sing at the same time. That one was very funny. The way he was switching from normal mood to crying felt like he was being controlled by a crying remote. I pushed harder to recover because of him. He has gone through a lot. The only way I can make him a happy man again is to recover and that was what kept me pushing. The accident put me through a lot of pain. Personally, I thought I couldn't make it but I  strived to overcome the pain. I didn't want Lexis to blame himself for the rest of his life for my death. I love him so much and I'm happy that he didn't give up on me when everyone lost hope that I wouldn't recover. One of Lexis' weeping moments, he told me the divorce papers were fake and he apologized that he sending the papers to my office was the basics to my fatality. It's my turn now to let him suffer small. It will be hard to do that but I'll still make him suffer.
Today is my last day at the hospital and the doctor said I'll be sitting in a wheel chair for a while. I pretended I am still mad at Lexis and told him that I didn't want to see his cheating face again. That stubborn man didn't listen. He kept showing his face at the hospital and in my room everyday. It was cute how he'd give me an innocent look when I fake a wicked glare at him as if I hadn't warn him of coming into my room ever again. Honestly I am glad I married the most hard headed man in the world. How could I have survived seeing only my family and my best friends everyday without the face of my handsome prince.

"Say hello to freedom!!!!" Arisca said when the door burst opened and the whole family, including Jeffery rushed in with balloons and gift bags. They all hugged and placed their gifts on my bed. Dad walked up to me and kissed my cheeks and gave me a big balloon with something inside.
"You have to burst it to find what's inside, princess," he told me. Celia gave me a little pin and I pricked the balloon with it.
It was a car key. How did this man manage to put the keys inside the balloon.

"Dad,  is this a way of making mockery of my misfortune?" I whined and they all laughed at what I said. "It's not funny!! You all know I can't drive in my condition." I said and was about to cry.
"No no sweety, no more tears. Don't cry. You're not going to spend the rest of your entire life in a wheel chair. You'll be able to stand on these sexy legs of yours again, I promise." Mum said and I smiled.
"Now let's get you out of here" mum said and I frowned, resisting to be raised from the bed. Why isn't Lexis here like everyone else? I wanted him to be the one to carry me from this bed. I bent my head down sadly.
"What's wrong baby girl?" Grandpa asked.

"Where's Lexis?" I asked and they all gave me a sad look.
"Sorry dear, he told me to tell you he had something important to attend to" Aunty Phoebe told me. My eyes formed fresh tears and they trickled on my cheeks.
"I'm sorry princess but we have to get going now. CJ will drive you home, we all have something to attend to also." Dad told me and I raised my head to look him in the eye but he looked away. I don't matter to my family any more. I got sick for just a month and they've forgotten that we always have a grand diner after a member recovers from an illness.
"Ok" that was all I could manage to say.
Dad carried me from the bed and placed me in the wheel chair.
"Say bye bye to this place." Jeffrey said as he pushed me out of the door.

The drive home was silent. CJ kept smiling from now and again and it looked creepy.
"What's funny?"
"Nothing ma'am." That was my third time I've asked him the same question and he gave me the same answer.
We entered the house and everywhere looked dark. What happened to the lights outside? CJ got down from the car and helped me out to sit in the wheelchair. He walked past me and headed towards  the guards bungalow.
"CJ!! CJ! Get back here! How do you expect me to push myself inside?" I screamed behind him but he didn't even turn his head to look back at me. I sighed frustratedly and began pushing myself forward.
"Are you going somewhere baby girl?" The voice I've been longing to hear spoke behind me. I gingerly turned to face him. The lights suddenly was turned on and I could see everywhere clearly without stress. There was a white Ferrari decorated with balloons with Welcome Home Princess written on it. That's dad's gift, I guessed.
"Welcome home my love" he walked in front of me and gave me a bouquet of white roses, my favorite.
"Thank you" I muted shyly and brought the bouquet to my nose to inhale it's tantalizing scent.
"What brand of perfume did you spray the flowers with?" I asked him, not taking the flowers from my nose.
He bent down to my level "You like them?"
"Yes" I closed my eyes and inhaled lastly before taking it from my nose.
"I bought you a box of it, you need not to worry about traveling to get them. Now let's get you in, it's cold here." Lexis said and pushed me inside.
