Buckle up for a longer chapter, Pom Bears! My motivation has picked up and I'm on my laptop, so why not? And sorry for calling you a Pom Bear, I just wanted a cute name for you people. Btw 113 reads is pretty insane, so thanks...Pom Bears.

Phil's POV

Night crept up on us quicker than I'd have hoped. We had taken far longer than I'd had hoped on the detour, and with the accident, I couldn't run too much while carrying Anna. The moon was a ghostly galleon, crossing the stormy seas of mist in the air. The fog from earlier had lifted a little, so it was a bit easier to manouver around, but this meant the overhead mask we had was being taken. We could easily be seen. I decided to just make a break for it. If Anna woke, it would be difficult, but we'd manage..hopefully. I turned to Dan.

"We'll just have to run for it. There's an old barn up here. We'll stay until Anna gets better, okay? But for now, you've gotta keep up with me."

Dan nodded nervously. He knew the planes would be out here any second, and we were ideal targets for bombers and gunmen. I squeezed his shoulder (with difficulty), which was our way of saying "I'm here". I began to jog, Dan following behind me. As the sound of a plane could be vaguely heard, I broke into a sprint, waking Anna up.

"Phil!" she whispered, "I'm scared! I-I just want to get h-home or s-something.."

She broke into tears and wrapped her arms around my neck, crying into my shoulder. This made it slightly easier to run. It wasn't too difficult because of her weight, and it was now easier to comfort her with a hug. I tightened my grip for a few moments, looking into her eyes.

"It's gonna be okay. We're both here, and nothing else is going to happen to you. I promise. Just close your eyes and it'll be over before you know it."

In fact, it was. I knew Anna hadn't closed her eyes, as Dan kept trying to hold in laughter. Honestly, they were immature sometimes. They only really did it to annoy me and Dan only really wanted to impress Anna, the bloody showoff. We got to the barn and I placed Anna down on a pile of straw. It was so big I managed to throw Dan in, much to his dismay, and climbed in myself. I heard someone mumble "I hate you", which was nice to here.

Dan's POV

I couldn't sleep. I was so worried about Anna. She was too weak to go on this journey, and I felt like I could have been there to stop it from happening. It was all my fault. I then saw her roll over and look at me.

"You don't sleep often, do you?"

I shook my head.

"I was just worried."

"About what?"

"About.." I hesitated, "About you. You know, with your head and everything."

She chuckled a little. "My head's fine, don't worry. I only cried earlier because I was scared. I thought you were going to get blown to pieces!"

"Hey, erm, this is going to seem really weird, but..."

And then I held her hand. She didn't even flinch at the coldness of my touch. She looked down and looked into my eyes. I looked back into hers. They were the most beautiful shade of green. Like emeralds, but better. Prettier.

"I just needed to let you know that I cared."

"I wish there was some way of putting into words how much I care for your well-being, too."

We sat and smiled awkwardly for a moment. I knew now was the time. I had to tell her that it wasn't her well-being I had meant, although that meant so, so much. It was her in general. I leaned over a little.

"Look, don't take this the wrong way, but I really like you. I think you're an amazing, beautiful, funny person. You are the sunshine that made my rain a rainbow, and that means a lot. In fact, so much that I can't put it into words. I can only tell you by doing this."

I leaned further until our lips met. This wasn't my first kiss, but it was certainly one of the best. It really meant something, as almost as soon as I kissed her, she kissed me back. She was first to move away, laughing slightly.

"What's so funny?" I began to laugh as well.

"I just never thought my first kiss would be in a haystack."

I was shocked. This girl could not have just had her first kiss! She was far too phenomenal!

"That was your first kiss?"

She nodded, a little embarrassed.

"Nobody's really cared about me like that."

"Well obviously the guys from your town must be pretty blind! Hey, it's pretty late. Wanna try and sleep?"

"Yeah, but there's just one question I have."

We layed down, still looking into each other's eyes and holding hands.

"And that is?"

"Does...Does this mean we're together?"

I hadn't thought about that. I broke our eye contact for a moment to think. When I looked back, she was almost asleep. Her eyes were half open.

"If you want - I mean - I guess, erm, well, I don't know.."

"Let's give it a shot. What could go wrong?"

So much. So much could go wrong. Maybe it was Karma, or maybe it was just the fact that young love doesn't exist.
