He was desperate. As bad as he knew it was, he couldn't let him go. Naruto wouldn't give up on his dream of bringing Sasuke back. He was so close to making it a reality! The Uzumaki boy didn't work hard for many years just for Sasuke to slip away from him again.

That's why he said what he did.

He made the stupid, immensly powerful promise of anything.

Anything Sasuke Uchiha wanted, he could have. Whether that be money, infinite tomatoes, a mansion! Anything!

It was a desperate moment. Even Naruto knew the moment the words left his mouth, he had made a mistake. Who in their right minds would say such an absurd thing? Clearly he did.

How did this happen? Let's take a look:

Sasuke turned his back to Naruto, without a word, starting to walk away. The Uzumaki boy had been trying to convince Sasuke to rejoin the leaf. Naruto tried hard to not physically attack the Uchiha, but that was getting harder by the second. Naruto's almost calm demeanor snapped the second that Sasuke turned his back. At that moment, Naruto knew that he had to do something drastic.

"Sasuke! Please come back to the leaf! We'll give you anything!"

It was a moment of weakness in which he slipped up. Naruto Uzumaki made a mistake he would later come to regret. But who cares? All that mattered was getting Sasuke back! At least, that's what he firmly believed.

The Uchiha, back still turned to his former teammate, smirked. Naruto Uzumaki was the same dobe he had left years ago. His face hidden from the Uzumaki's view, Sasuke took a few more, taunting steps away.

"Please Sasuke! Anything! Anything at all!"

And in that moment of weakness, Sasuke Uchiha had won. Naruto, in all his 'innocence', probably thought something like money would bring the Uchiha back. However, that wasn't something Sasuke was short of. Within mere seconds, the Uchiha could sign a multi-million yen deal and still have money to spare.

No. What he wanted was something far greater than a small object of money.

Well, the question wasn't what. It was who....

"Naruto...."

The blonde's head shot up in desperation.

"Dobe....."

Tears almost fell from Naruto's eyes. Never had being called a dobe sounded more comforting. All his hard work was paying off.

"Sasuke. What do you want? We can give you anything!"

"Alright. I'll come back with you."

And at that moment, Naruto thought he had won. He got Sasuke Uchiha back. He got the person he chased after for years. His best friend. A sigh of relief left Naruto as tears poured down his face. "Teme. You're back!" Naruto threw his arm out, giving 'teme' a friendly pat on the back. "Thank you, Sasuke."
