Harry's POV

Strawberries and cream? Who on earth smells like strawberries and cream?

Is there any way I could've made it MORE obvious that I was lying?

I vividly remember myself inhaling the vanilla and pine scent from my amortentia. It's not like I wasn't expecting it, I knew I liked y/n but I also knew what she had done with Draco a day after getting with me.

Did that mean nothing to her?

I really wanted her, I really did, but she was practically with Draco so there was nothing I could do. I'm not one to ruin a relationship for my own benefit. A s long as y/n didn't find out who I actually smelt, then I would be okay.

'Harry, come look at this!' yelled Ron from down the hallway.

I walked towards him, still lost in my thoughts.

'What happened? What is it?' I questioned.

'The prefects are organising an Autumn ball for all of the fifth and sixth years!'

Ron watched as I lowered my head. His smile faded.

'What's wrong Harry? Did I say something wrong?'

'No, No don't worry about me Ron, but if you really want to know then let's go to our dorm and I'll explain.'

-

As we got into our room I closed the door and flunked onto my bed.

'Ok so it all began on the first day back...'

I told Ron everything. Everything from the train to the amortentia. I even told him about what happened between us in the empty classroom.

'Bloody hell' exclaimed Ron, his eyes wide with surprise. He ruffled his ginger hair with his hand. 'You're telling me, all this happened in the past week and you didn't even care to tell your best friend?'

I looked at him guiltily.

'I'm joking Harry! I'm not here to make you feel worse, i'm here to help you.'

This is exactly why I loved Ron so much, no matter the circumstance, he'd always be there to help me.

'Ok, firstly let me go get Hermione and explain everything to her.'

I reluctantly agreed as I was scared of how she would judge me and I knew she was friends with y/n but then again, she knew more about girls than the both of us combined.

I fiddled with my robe as Ron left the room. Once again, I delved deep into my thoughts. I wonder what she saw in him because all I saw was a toxic piece of shit with extreme daddy issues.

'Oh my God Harry, why on earth wasn', I informed about this earlier?' Asked Hermione as she and Ron walked towards me hand in hand.

'And why wasn't I informed about 'this' earlier?' I chuckled gesturing towards their intertwined fingers.

Hermione's face turned scarlet.

'Anyways...' said Ron, trying to change the subject. 'So Hermione and I were thinking, and we came to the conclusion that you need to forget about her, let her go.'

'But...it's not that easy...' I muttered.

'Precisely why we are going to find you a date for the Autumn ball!' Exclaimed Hermione. 'We love y/n but if she can't see that you're better than a snobby blond twat, then she needs help.'

We all fell into laughter.

'We're still going to be close with her, but Harry, when I say close, I don't mean inside of her.' Laughed Ron.

'Too soon' whispered Mione.

I let out a little laugh to mask my pain.

'Ok so who do you suggest I go with?' I asked.

'Well there is Ginny, Luna and Cho who don't have a date yet.' Answered Mione.

'Neville is asking Luna, I don't think Cho is over Cedric yet so I guess I'll go with Ginny.'

Ron gave me a look.

'I'm kidding! He laughed. 'Might as well have someone proper asking her rather than a man whore who would knock her up the night they met.'

I couldn't help but laugh at that unnecessary comment.

'Thank you, I don't deserve friends like you two.'

'Oh but you do' whispered Mione.
