Snakes and Ladders (Draco Malfoy x Reader ft Harry)

Chapter 3

Y/N POV

As we stepped off the train and into school, I couldn't help but notice Harry's messy chestnut hair, blowing in front of his eyes. He shook his head a bit, then delicately flicked it behind his glasses.

Everyone had been telling me that Harry liked me, but if i'm being honest I'm not too sure how I feel about him. Honestly , this year I need I need to focus on my studies a bit more instead of pursuing love interests.

I got so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realise that I was still staring at Harry, plus I was way behind Draco.

'Earth to Y/N! Come on you're going to be late for the first lesson of the year' Draco yelled while grabbing my arm and pulling me forward. 'Daydreaming about Pottah i see' he sneered while rolling his eyes.

'That's not true!' I said lying right through my teeth.

'I hope it isn't' He muttered while pulling me closer to him.

Our first lesson of the year was 'defense against the dark arts' with professor Snape.

Snape sat me in between Draco and Harry, with Ron and Mione in front of us.

I think I'm pretty good at DADA but today we were just revising what we had done in past years in preparation for our exams.

'Y/N, can you please recite the incantation to light your wand?' Snape questioned.

'Lumos' I chanted, waving my wand anti-clockwise.

For the next hour we continued chanting simple incantations until it was the end of the lesson.

Later that day, Draco and I headed back to the slytherin common room. We took a seat on the sofa and I opened up a big green book for DADA revision.

As I revised Draco took my hand into his and started playing with my fingers. That certainly was unusual of him so i looked up at him and gave him a little smile. He smiled back but it wasn't a real smile, I could see tears welling in his big gray eyes but he was clearly trying to hold them back.

Draco had never been one to talk about his feelings, but i was close enough to him to always know when something wasn't right, and right now I could tell something was wrong.

I put down my book and lay my head on his chest. I could feel his chest moving up and down with his breathing. Somehow that just made me feel safe. He lay his head on the sofa's arm rest, my hand still in his.

A couple minutes had past. I had closed my eyes but I was still very much awake. I thought he had fallen asleep but then i felt a teardrop onto my face. I felt a piercing pain in my heart as I knew that something was up with him but he wouldn't tell me. I didn't know what else to do so I moved my head further up so that his head could rest on my shoulder. He nestled into my shoulder and I could feel tears dripping down my neck as we both fell asleep.
