Clara's POV

"Clara...Clara...CLARA," I hear someone shout at me

"What!" I complain. I roll over in my bed and pull the covers over my head. I hate mornings. The only reason I would get up early is so that I could use the shower first but now that Bret isn't here I can just ignore mornings.

"Well if you wanna be late be my guest," they retort

"For what?" I reply

"For your first day of classes," it says. I bolt upright my wavy hair fly all over the place then continues to frizz up into an afro. I see Diandra on the other bed. It was probably her attempting to wake me up. I'm still in my uniform from the other day and my hair is obviously a mess.

"You know you say a lot of interesting things in your sleep," Diandra says

"What?! When's my first class?I ask rubbing my eyes.It feels like I'm hungover but I'm not. I've never actually been hung over but it seem kinda nasty. On one occasion my dad came home drunk, mom was mad. He was hung over the next day...

"So who's this Bret guy," Diandra pipes up.

"He's my twin!" I give her a 'what-the-hell?!?!' look.

"Well by the way you described him he sounded hunky," she gives me a puppy dog face then we both laugh. I've missed Bret a lot. I admit last night in my dream all I dreamt about was the Marking office and me screaming for Bret. It's really weird, but I know that we have one of those twin connections. We can't like telepathically talk or anything but I feel like I'm missing part of me whenever he's not around.

I remember when I was 7 there was a slumber party for all the girls in our grade at Emily's house. I was fine for most of the arty execept when we actually had to sleep. I panicke, sure I had been away from the house before but I had never been without Bret. So I freaked out. Emily's mom called our house. Emily begged me not to go home so my mom thought of a solution. Bret was sent over to the party and slept beside me. The rest of the night was pretty awckward for the other girls since they all had major crushes on him.

"Hello? Earth to Clara!," Diandra says impaitently snapping her fingers in front of her face. I think I'm turning into Bret. If only I was a half a foot taller...

"CLARA! Your class starts in fifteen miuntes!" Diandra screeches

"What! How did it get this late!" I cry. Diandra face palms herself. Diandra attempts running through the rat's nest I call hair but ends up, giving up when the comb refuses to go any farther. So she runs around and helps me get my books (which Diandra had found on the doorstep when she came home from class) that had been delivered last night. I straighten out my uniform and miraculously getting a brush through my hair. Diandra finds my translator on my bedside table and alips it over my head. Before I go, Diandra ties it in a simpple braid down the back with a gold ribbon of hers.

I step out the door and run into something...hard.

"What the...oh," I say now looking up at Mark.

"C'mon get up," he says offering out his hand. I regret taking it because my hand ended up getting burnt.

"How long have you been outside my door?" I ask rubbing my forehead.

"How long does it take you to get ready?" he counters. Good fudge nuggets, I bet he's been out side my door the whole time I was getting ready.

"Let's go we're going to be late," he says and we start off.

"So how long we're you outside my door?" I ask suspiciously

"Long enough," he says slyly. We turn into the main hall. Wait! Is he attempting to -insert gasp- flirt with me? Well he certainly isn't very practised.

He takes me down a hallway painted a soft purple. How many hallways does this place have anyways? A bell chimes and Mark quickens his pace then stops at a door at the end of the hallway. He knocks twice then we wait in an awkward silence. A minute later a teacher opens the door and sticks her head out.

She's a peculiar looking woman. She's only slightly taller then I am but slimmer. Her shiny, stick staright, white blonde hair flows down to the small of her back. But the most interesting thing about her is her translucent coloured eyes that seem to pick the different colours around her. She just stands there just staring into space. We stand there for a moment until we hear her shout "Mark, this is your third late in a row, I think that another trip to the principal is in order."

"Not my fault," he says "I had her."

The teacher's gaze falls on me. Her eyes aren't translucent anymore. Now they're chocolate brown.

"So your the new girl," she says. I feel like she's inspecting me.

"Yeah.."is all I can spit out

"Well come on in," she says. Mark rushes into the classroom but I follow behind the teacher.

"Woah,"I whisler silently. This is really a 'woah' worthy room. Instead of desks there's beanbag chairs. Instead of paper there's light tablets. And instead of a usual hard tile floor it's fluffy purple carpeting.

"Class this is Clara Clement. Clara this is your class. Oh, and I'm Miss. Reinfield, but most people call me Miss. R," Miss R introduces.

"Whe-," I start

"Sit where ever you like," she says. I look for Mark but he's sitting next to that asian kid who's surrounded by Tamesha and crew. So I decide to sit at the back next to a kid who's probably asleep. Didn't the bell just go like two minutes ago?

I sit down and pull out my light tablet that was stuffed in my bag of books. When I touch the screen it automatically begins to record notes on whatever Miss. R was talking about. By the looks of it, I'm in history right now. I'm just settled in when the person beside me wakes up.

"Fudge nuggets," he cries. HEY! That was my made up curse. Miss. R stops talking and looks at him before continuing her speech.

"Oh hey Clara," he whispers I look up it was Jose.

"Your in this class?" I inquire softly

"Yeah it's as boring as hell right?" he says

"Why are you in this class?" I ask

"Does it look like I'm a genius," he whispers

"No, but why this class," I say. He face palms himself.

"I thought they told you this already Clara. If your not a genius you have a special power. Since I'm not a genius that means..." he says putting emphasis on the blank.

"You have a special power? What is it!" I whisper excitedly

"It's hard to do right now but I'll you sometime," he says then leans back in his chair. From this angle Jose looks hot and I mean really hot. His black hair is rumpled and his fingers are running throw it. His green eyes are like emeralds againstI look at his cheast. He streches an flashes his abs. ABS! Did I mention I'm a sucker for abs. I sometimes wish I had them and then I realise it would just be awckward if my boyfriend didn't have them as well.

"Wait," I sit up "since Miss. R teaches history is she some history genius?"

"Nah, she can predict the future," Jose says ajusting himself in his seat again.

"Then why-"

"The teahers thought it would be ironic if he person who reads the future taugh the past," Jose says like he perfectly memorised that one statement.

"Is that why her eyes are translucent?" I ask

"Where'd you get that from. Miss. R's eyes are brown," he whispers

"No when I first saw her, her eyes eyes were all sorts of different colours," I say

"You must have been imagining it," he says

But I know I'm right, her eyes were translucent. But why were they that colour? Some how I feel that I must use my powers of seduction against Mark to find the answer.
