Jen and Rock were sitting at the kitchen table, making weird faces at each other and doubling over with laughter. They were in good moods. Although Jen was still worried about being able to properly lie about her son's identity and Rock was still worried over her son. This was the first time in a week that they had gotten things to some sort of normal. Jen just hoped that she would be able to pull off the lies with precision.
As soon as Severus walked in, the face-making ceased and both girls covered their mouths, hiding smiles. He stared at them for a minute before shaking it off. There was just something about when they were alone together that made him think that they were plotting something.
"Hey, Sexy," Rock called. "Are you free this evening?"
He rolled his eyes. "You've essentially cleared my entire schedule until further notice, so I am assuming that my evening is free. Why do you ask?" he inquired cautiously. "You didn't plan for something to happen at that time, did you?" Jen's mouth twitched in amusement. Only Severus would be paranoid enough to think something was up when it was, in all honestly, an innocent question.
"No," Jennifer smiled, reassuring him. "We did not. How are you fairing this fine morn, sweetheart? You look absolutely ravishing."
The other two shot her a weird look. "Sexy, look at what you did to Jen," Rock admonished. "You made her learn the ways of the world." He refrained from rolling his eyes once more and opted for shaking his head in bemusement.
"I did nothing of the sort," he retorted, giving Rock a mock glare. "If anything, your influence made her no longer innocent."
"Or maybe," Jen cut in, "I was always this way, but I now choose to show it."
There was a pause. "False," Rock dictated. "You were always sweet and innocent. Sexy just really fucked that up... In both meanings of the word."
"Can we change the subject?" he inquired. "Because I'd rather not dwell on the past, if you don't mind. We've moved on." Severus took a moment to wonder how things had gotten to this point. About a month ago, he never would've imagined two gorgeous young women would've thrown themselves at him, let alone entered his house. Rock had a flair for making things interesting. And with Jen and their midnight conversations, things were quite enjoyable.
He really did love them. And that perhaps was the most odd part about all of this.
"Sexy," Rock smiled sweetly, although the mischievous glint to her silver eyes was anything but. "Did you know that Jen is extremely ticklish?"
Jen's face paled, her eyes widening. "Rock," she groaned. "Why did you say that?"
Severus looked at the two girls appraising. Ticklish. That had distinct possibilities. Jen looked weary despite the slight fear in her eyes. Rock simply looked as if she was waiting for him to put two and two together.
This mathematical equation was one of the few that made him quite pleased.
"I said that because I thought it was a good thing to know. You know, in case of an emergency," she replied innocently. Jen snorted, not fooled.
"What emergency?" Jen asked, shooting Severus a startled glance. He was moving ever closer to her. "I think that this actually is going to cause one and -Holy Christ!" She jumped out of her chair, backing away from Severus. But instead of looking frightened, she was grinning. "So close, yet so far, Severus. Better luck next time."
He scowled teasingly. He had attempted to capture her so that he could test Rock's statement. Too bad Jen moved like a terrified rabbit on drugs. "Next time?" he asked silkily. "Who said anything about a first time?"
