Visiting a few shops here and there, we managed to pick up a few clothes. The majority of them were blue long and short sleeved shirts. A few jogging pants and trousers. Kakashi had convinced me to allow him to buy me a jacket too, since we are in the midst of fall. "Ah sensei, what should we do for dinner." Kakashi asked while guiding me into a new grocery store. "Ahah you don't have to worry about it." I said while scratching my neck. "Your my guest now, so believe I have too." He said assuringly, turning back to the selves littered with a selection of spices.I about told him not to worry again, but he turned to look at me, seeming like he knew. He then glanced back at the shelves grabbing some type of spice and heads out of our current isle. I follow behind, glancing at the assorted items on every shelf. Kakashi stoped at the meat section, poking here and there at the different selections of meat. "Does curry sound good?" He asks while glancing at some stew meat. "Mh, yeah," I said as he picks up the stew meat. Right as he turned to me he got slapped in the back by a gleeful man, with choppy black hair. "Ah Kakashi! The fountain of youth flows through you my dearest rival." Said this guy, supposedly Kakashi's rival. Kakashi's eye bulges not looking too happy. "Oh, hello Gai." He turns shrugging off his scare, with his aloof manner. So this was Gai, I should have known. "Well, my rival how was your last mission, I haven't heard anything so I thought I'd ask you in person!" Gai said putting a hand on Kakashi's shoulder. "Ahah, sorry about that I had to go to Tsunade's office first." Kakashi chuckled nervously trying to cover up his aggravated posture.
They continued on talking for a while till Kakashi looked my way with a pleading eye. I raised a brow, then realized he wanted me to say something. "Hey uh, I'm very sorry to interrupt, but me and Kakashi have to get home soon." I spoke up, scratching my neck. "Very understandable! Uh-" Gai stoped mid sentence seemingly not knowing who I am, I about said my name, that is except Kakashi answered instead. "Arashi Sato." Kakashi chose not to use my real name, which confused me, but I'll ask him why later. As, getting away from Gai seemed very important. "Ah well Arashi that's very understandable! I wish Kakashi and your's evening well and full of youth." Gai said raising a thumb dramatically, then, finally he took off doing his own thing.
"Thank you for stepping in, Sensei." Kakashi said with a sigh. I chuckled softly. "No problem, though you know you don't have to call me Sensei. I'm your former teacher now, so I don't see the need too." Kakashi waved me off, heading to the produce isle. I stood there for a bit, still stunted at how he just pushed my statement off like it wasn't an option. I follow him anyway, he picked up some carrots and potatoes. Then moves to the checkout section. He stops at a register with a beautiful young lady with blonde hair. She finishes up scanning and looks up at Kakashi. "You know, I'm free." She winks smirking lightly "Here's my address." She said while giving his receipt . He stared blandly at the paper before shoving it into the bag and heading out the sliding doors. I look up at the girl apologetically before hurrying after the silver haired jounin.
"You know, you should try getting with someone." I suggest softly. Kakashi turns to me and shrugs. "It's not really my thing." I pucker my lips knowing he's trying to change the subject. "Kakashi how can you not really try too, a young lady just openly wanted to try something with you." I stated, putting the poor girl into the conversation. "Sensei, that's the thing," he pauses before continuing "I don't want someone that will just offer themselves, plus she was just not my-" he stops again choosing not to say the rest. Seemingly avoiding the talk about types. I nod my head thoughtfully. "That's understandable, I was that way with Kushina." I say laughing light heartedly, before sadness settles in. I noticed how Kakashi tensed too. Gosh why did I mention her, she's trying to rest peacefully for Kami's sake.
The rest of the way to Kakashi's apartment was completely silent between us. Like some unspoken agreement to not continue on the subject. It's not like I could have helped it though. Of course I'm going to think of my deceased wife. I hear Kakashi hum lightly as we approach an apartment complex. He guides me up a flight of stairs, and comes to a stop at the 4th door down. He puts the grocery bag into his left hand and rummages through his pocket for, what I assume, keys. He pulls them out and unlocks the door. "You can put your clothes on the couch for now." Kakashi says while sliding off his shoes. "Oh okay." I replied hurrying over to the couch and dropping the bundle of bags that I had in hand.
I notice Kakashi disappear into the kitchen, probably to cook said curry. Not knowing what to do I relax onto the couch trying to find the TV remote. After a bit of searching I finally find it, but a strong burning smell stops me from turning it on. I fly off the couch rushing into the kitchen to find Kakashi running around grabbing random stuff while a pot behind him is on fire. Kakashi is flinging stuff everywhere in his wake, my jaw drops at the scene. What in kami's name is going on. I quickly get a cup kakashi has set out and rush to the sink to fill it up. "Kakashi your gonna burn your apartment down!" I holler over the commotion. "Shut up and put it out!" I hear him yell at me. I remove the cup from the sink and dump it over the pot, thank fully the fire goes out.
I huff out a breath as Kakashi wobbles over to the pot to look into it. "At least it was just the potatoes." He says sighing. I look up and make eye contact with him as I feel my eyebrow twitch. I groan grabbing the pot, taking it to the trash can in the corner of the kitchen. "How do you even burn potatoes, let alone, let the whole pot catch on fire." I said looking back to Kakashi while dumping the now burnt condiments. A pink blush dusts across his face as he scratched his neck chuckling nervously. I shake my head bringing the pot over to the sink. "This is the first time I've tried making curry by myself." He admitted while watching me clean the pot. "I'll help you." I said giving him a wide smile. He blinks a couple of times and then nods.
We both managed to cook the curry successfully, without burning anything this time. I chuckle at the memory of Kakashi helplessly running around the kitchen, like he wasn't an experienced nin. We finally sit down at the dinner table and eat. "This isn't that bad." I hear Kakashi mumble with a mouth full of rice. "Yeah." I agreed laughing lightly. Kakashi snorts before speaking up. "You can have my bed tonight, I plan on moving us to my compound. Don't worry, I'll sleep on the couch." I look up at him, he was still eating with his mask on. "Kakashi i'll sleep on the couch, this is your apartment. Plus I don't think one night on the couch is gonna hurt me." I said making eye contact. Kakashi's eye furrows. "You're right about it being my apartment Sensei. So I'm aloud to give my guest the bed, and like you said it's just one night." I look down at my plate, why do I just want to give in to the option. I shouldn't be just taking his bed. "Kakashi, no really don't worry about it, I'll sleep on the couch." I spoke up again, trying to persuade the already one tracked jounin. "Sensei, please." Kakashi said pleading me, this practically made my heart stop. When he was my student, even when he was in anbu, he never used the word 'please'. He never did, so when that word just came out of his mouth, how was I supposed to say no? So in the end, I was laying on his bed still pondering on Kakashi's use of 'please'.
