Both Elisabeth and Noah let out a sigh of relief when the flames of the torches seemed to turn to a green colour. The answer they had given was correct once again, but there was no time to celebrate their small victory. They still weren't done and time was ticking fast. Thalia looked at both her friends and nodded proudly. She was very glad to see that Lis and Noah were working together very well and that so far all of the riddles got answered correctly. If they continued like this she would be out of the hourglass in no time.
"Alright, so what's next!?" Noah quickly asked, while he clapped his hands together.
Suddenly it seemed like music seemed to fill the room a little bit. A beautiful melody played by several instruments such as a harp, a flute, a lute and a piano. Several voices were singing along to the melody as well. Lis crossed her arms as she looked around, trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. Noah seemed to be surprised as well, before he looked at Thalia in the hourglass. She simply shrugged a bit and tried to hear what the next task would be. The mysterious female started to speak once again.
"Do you really want to stand a chance?
Well then, grab your lady by the hand and dance!
Spin and twirl over the grounded stones in the hall.
Do you think that you can connect them all?
If you get everything correctly, you might get a reward.
But first you must retrace the steps of the lady and the lord."
"The steps of the lady and the lord.. It must be like that love story on the wall!" Noah exclaimed, before pointing in the direction of the wall where it looked like a little story got told.
The story corresponded to the stones on the ground and Noah was certain that they had to dance from stone to stone as a couple to get the task done.
Suddenly, within a matter of seconds the grains of sand that rested on the floor started swirling around Noah and Elisabeth at quite a high speed. Lis was mostly confused and to Noah it felt like a tickling sensation all around him. From outside his body, mind you.
Not much later the sand blew away again, but to their surprise, the engaged couple looked a bit different.
Elisabeth had her hair up in a very regal manner. The dark brown strands were beautifully curled and only two little curls rested next to her face. She was wearing a white flowy dress that slowly turned blue on the skirt. Her brown boots had disappeared and been changed into black dancing heels.
Noah's style had changed quite a bit as well. He looked down and realised his clothes had been replaced by a neat, grey, three-piece suit with Egyptian symbols sewn in with thin, golden thread.
"Oh, absolutely not", he said, as he shrugged out of the jacket. "We don't do suit jackets in the Carter household."
Thalia looked at both of them and cocked her head to the side a little bit, before noticing how the circle of stones around the hourglass became more visible. She realised what Lis and Noah needed to do and already started shaking her head, before sitting down in the sand, just letting the grains fall on her head a bit.
Elisa looked at Noah in disbelief after she had examined her new look and smiled softly at him as she started twirling around a little like a ballerina.
A small chuckle had Noah looking in Elisa's direction and for a second, he could do nothing but stare. The breezy dress began as a white bodice, but the sleeves and skirt faded into a deep, rich blue that complimented her eyes. The way she moved around, every move ever so graceful.
