Beautiful lies tends to be the words we wanted to hear. It's surprising because we feel so betrayed after knowing the truth behind it. It's a simple metaphor: your deepest desire, your dreams and the things you ever wanted, in reality, you can't have them. You ceased to reach it. That's why it's called wishes. Wake up. You can't live in a life full of unfulfilled wishes.

This happened after I came home from school. Amazing how shitty things would happen at your home, your sweetest escape. It was raining heavily outside too. Mum came home from work early and dad was there at the living room. In his drunken state, he said:
"The world is unfair. Very unfair. Life is unfair, like everything else is."
I knew he was talking about his old job. He loves his old job so much. But what to do? His dream was over. Eventhough the new job pays him a good amount of money, and yet he still complains.
"Go get the blanket, honey," said mum to me when she arrived at the scene. My little brother was watching the television. There's a show called 'Hot in Cleveland', it was his favorite. The content was a bit too mature for him but he was supervised. Well, by me, at least.
"You know? This stupid world squeezes too much lemonade!" said dad again. Continuing his drunk talk infront of us while laying on the couch with his eyes closed.
I hand mum the blanket after I came back from their room. Mum wrapped it around dad and was ready to go to the kitchen when she looks at my brother on the floor, still watching that comedy show.
"Gretchen, lower the sound a bit." said mum.
Gretchen, who didn't bother to lower down the television sound watched the show in silence. He didn't even look up to our mum. Mum on the other hand, went straight to the kitchen and starts to cook dinner for us to eat later on. I was sitting at the stairs, reading that book I borrowed from yesterday.
I heard Gretchen laughed a little at some of the scenes in Hot in Cleveland. I've watched the new season a month ago through the laptop. But it's still is fun to watch.
"shut it, Gretchen!" said dad. I didn't hear Gretchen say anything so I continued on to the next chapter of the book.
A few moments later, I heard a loud noise from the living room. Right then, Gretchen's scream was audible.
"Mum!!" he called. I stood up so quickly and darted towards the living room. I almost fell from the stairs as I did so.
When I got there, I saw that our dad was throwing things around. I went to grab Gretchen's arms when he threw the big giant vase that mum got on Christmas day. It hit right onto my torso and I manage to push Gretchen far from getting hit by the object. Mum came in minutes later and tries to calm my dad but he almost hit her on the face. She stepped away from dad and ushered us to the door. I manage to swing open the door and we ran to the porch. It was still raining and I felt the cold air immediately.
"I want you two to ran across the street and tell the Langford that your dad is being aggressive!" she said. Her voice cracks a little when she said those words.
Gretchen bolted towards the street. I followed him but half way to the Langford's front lawn, I turn around in time to see that dad is lifting something and swings it towards mum. Mum ran a few steps away from him. I bolted back towards the lawn and before he had the chance to hit her with whatever object he was holding at the time, I pushed him so hard to the side using my shoulder and we both fell to the ground. Thanked God it was raining. It wouldn't be a soft landing if it wasn't.
"You little bi-"
"Richard, stop!" yelled mum. She pulled me away from dad and he was struggling to get up as he was drunk and the ground was super slippery.
