Dystopian hell is what I call school. Anyways, I get out of Hayley's car and take my backpack in my hands.
'Good luck Ali.' Hayley declared while shutting the front door of the car.
'Bye Haysie.' We smirk while calling each other our most hated nicknames.
I walk out of the pathway and drag my backpack over my shoulder while walking towards the green and utterly ridiculous entrance of the school.
'Alaila!, wait up hun.' My best friend shouts from her car. I turn around.
'Cecilia? Hun. I missed you!' I run to Cecilia and give her a big great hug. I haven't seen her in years, or at least that's what it felt like.
'So how has it been? Everything with your family okay?' I asked Cecilia. She lost her mum to cancer last year, even if it has been quite a while I could not know how she would ever deal with this kind of pain, the agonizing sense of your family falling apart. And her dad died 5 years ago, she was left with her older brother and younger sister, while her uncle was taking care of them. Every time I saw her I wanted to break into tears, my friend is so strong and I love her for that she always stays positive even when she is breaking on the inside and no one can tell apart from me and it damages me to see her in this excruciating and severe way.
'It has been hard of course but I feel better.. I guess?'
I smiled in hopes of spreading the positive energy that I didn't even have. We carried on walking to the entrance.
'FIRE! FIRE.' One of my classmates shouted behind me.
First i was shocked and had a serious face but then i got scared and knew we had to run.
'Cecilia! Run.' I shouted at the toppest of my lungs.
But then i stopped, noticing the fire that was still quite far away. Something drew me to it and it surely wasnt the thought of suicide, i just wanted to explore the fire.
'Alaila! Come on.'
I looked behind me and saw Cecilia's confused yet sad face. I wanted to follow her but the urge stopped me once again.
'Go! I will catch up with you. I promise.'
'What no are you crazy?' Cecilia grabbed my arm tightly and started pulling me to the opposite direction of the fire.
'Trust me, i need to do something important, go i promise ill be behind you in a second.'
She did not trust me but she did not have a choice, she started walking the other way.
Everyone was running the other way and i was walking towards the fire and heard a scream deep within the fire, if anyone was there they would be hurt very badly and thats why i helped or tried to.
'HELLO! Anyone there!!' I shouted.
I heard coughs and more coughs until it was dead silence, and the choice that i would now make would change my life forever, but i took the risk.
I jumped into the fire.
