We packed a little travel bag in less than an hour, luckily I still had some of my moms old clothes for Layla to use. "Are you guys ready yet" Felix asked. Layla was currently curling her hair, well I was trying to find any extra bathing suits I had. "Yeah I'm ready, but we are going to need to go shopping when we hit California" I answered back to him. I saw Layla walk out the bathroom with freshly done hair.
"I'm ready let's get this show on the road" Layla said. We all went down stairs, Felix insisted on driving his car to the airport. When we got outside I saw a brand new Dodge Challenger, Layla was in Aw I just shook my head "show off" I mumbled under my breath. "My last job had its perks" Felix said while grabbing our bags.
When we go to the airport we went threw a secret entrance, I felt like I was going undercover. We got all our bags checked in and were taken to the jet. When we arrived I was amazed, I have never took any plane before. Layla was more than happy to hurry and get on the plane, she practically ran up the stairs. Felix helped with our bags, "so how much did your last job pay" I said to him. He smiled "you know I been alive for centuries, being with the Volturi helped me save a lot of money, this is the first year I can actually enjoy spending it". I wanted to ask if he ever found his mate but I guess if he did they would be here with him.

We took off 20 mins later, the sky was dark but I could see the moon lighting up the sky. Layla had her head on my lap, she was taking a nap, the turbulence got to much for her so decided on sleeping till we landed. "So where exactly are we landing" I asked Felix. "I have located your family member close to Morro Bay, we will land in San Luis Obispo and drive down to the coast" he said while flipping a page in his book. I never been down to that beach before I was excited. Lucky for Felix the forecast looked cloudy for the next few days. But I had uneasy feeling, I believed I was mostly worried about Carlisle and Esme finding out I was with Felix, I knew it was wrong to keep this from them but I wanted to do this on my own.
When we landed down, There was an suv waiting to take us to our hotel in Morro Bay. Layla thought we were in a different country, which was pretty funny I didn't think California life was anything special.
"This place is so full of night life, how could you guys ever move away" Layla said looking out the window. I did miss California but Alaska was refreshing in a way. I was about to tell Layla she should apply to college down here but my phone rang interrupted my thought, I answered it thinking it was Adam.
"Elizabeth where are you, I passed by your house and smelt another vampire" Carlisle said before I could even speak. I signed "Carlisle I'm sorry I'm okay I promise, I had to go somewhere for a few days I promise when I get back I will explain things to you and Esme goodbye" I said hanging up the phone before he could say anymore. Felix looked at me and gave me a slight smile while Layla just rubbed my arm.
It was 10 pm when we arrived to the hotel. Felix insisted on paying for everything, he got us a suite with an ocean view I had to admit it was awesome. Layla was over the moon excited she said she felt like a celebrity. She said no one had ever done something this nice for her, we both thanked Felix. He ordered a buffet of room service for dinner, we didn't hesitate to stuffed our faces with the fancy food. Layla was the first to knock out of a food coma on the couch. I took a picture of her so I can keep just in case she ever tried to post an ugly picture of me. Felix took her to the bedroom we were sharing.
I on the other hand couldn't sleep, I had to much on my mind, I knew once Adam found out I left I was done for. "You know you should get some sleep, I heard humans can't function right without at least 5 hours of sleep" Felix said sitting down next to me. I just rolled my eyes "I'm fine it's just a lot on my mind" I said taking a french fry. " I know it's none of place to say but I think after all this you should give them a chance, Carlisle is a good man and his wife is a good woman, I know this world is all new to you but you will get use to it". I was shocked that Felix was so nice, I did not expect any one from the Volturi to have some what of a soul. "Thanks Felix, I hope this doesn't offered you but do you have mate" I asked hoping it wasn't a sensitive subject.

"Well I haven't found my mate yet I thought maybe I would find her working for the Volturi but I never did, that's why I decided to leave, after all these years, I guess I have to find her" he answered me. I felt bad for him, he looked scary on the outside but he was big teddy bear on the inside. "Well I hope one day you find her, I think I should sleep now we have a lot to do tomorrow, goodnight Felix" I said getting up from the couch. "Goodnight Elizabeth".
