Poem Five

my professed spirituality
my heart-sworn goddess
i write your scripture
on shards of my bones
scream your name
from the highest peaks
reading your eyes
in the black-leather
night sky
i ride into battle
carrying nothing
but your two second oaths
and a necklace of the moon
cause it looks
exactly like your smile
i place statues of you
next to me when i sleep
and pray to you
right when i'm about to
hands clasped
and repeating all the thoughts
spinning through my head
every minute of the day
and
i would slay a thousand dragons
convert a million people
to believe in the existence of you
cause you're my faith
my deity
that whispers in my ears
and dances with me
in the whimsical universes of my dreams
frank sinatra
purring deep from the record player;
believe in me as well
cause i'm a lovesick prince
who would die for the sake of romance
my sword held high
as i take the throne
of this battle-worn kingdom
that is my soul
knowing full well
that imagining is for fools
and that the wise
actually get what they want
instead of just tossing around empty wishes
but i have never been a genius
just a creator of dreams
and activist for dying for the heart's
loud desires.
