"Hello, girls," Alice greeted her daughter's warmly as soon as she walked into their hotel room. "I brought everything as requested..." she set her drink holder down. "Strawberry milk and orange juice for Betty... Chocolate milk for Polly..." she set the cups down. "Betty's breakfast," she handed over a foam to-go box in which held one breakfast plate; hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage and an English muffin with jam. "Pop didn't have any slices of cake, honey, so I got you a cupcake instead."
"No, that's probably better," she chuckled. "I just need the taste really. This is a lot of food, I don't think I'll finish."
"Believe me, you will," their mother grinned. "Ham and cheese sandwich for you," she handed it over to her eldest. "Coffee and a fruit for me," she smirked.
"You're so healthy, mom, live a little," Polly advised with a laugh.
"I live great," she replied. "I like to watch what goes into my mouth so I don't blow up like a balloon."
Betty pursed her lips just because her meal was outrageous.
"You're allowed to enjoy yourself when you are pregnant, by the way," Alice assured because the girl could get insecure about all the food she knew she was going to consume.
She nodded.
"Anyways, did you and your father have any plans?" she asked Polly.
"Not really," she shook her head. "I just missed my sister, thought I would stop in and bring her some goodies..."
"That's nice of you..." she smiled as she took a sip of her coffee. She then traveled over to the floor to ceiling window and she fixated her focus on the outdoors, thinking about their trip up north.
"So, when are you guys going to leave this place?" Polly asked. "I don't think you can stay here forever."
"We could..." Alice assured. "But we're not..."
"You found a place?" Betty wondered.
"Sort of. By tomorrow, I should be getting a call back. With good news, hopefully, we should be moving into a nice cottage. Up north, just outside Riverdale. I have to do some more research, but apparently, it is very secluded, not dangerous and it's beautiful."
"Wow, that's great," the teen replied with a grin.
"How did you pull something like this off?" the older gal asked.
"I contacted an old friend... Said I'd get the help I needed and we could stay as long as we wanted. You're more than welcome to come with us," Alice added. "Just to visit and check out the place, since I know you're not keen on staying."
"Maybe I will. I can help you guys pack or unpack..."
"Oh, yeah... We still have other things to get," the younger sister mentioned.
"I know. I'll just wait till your father's at work and I can get my more important stuff that I had to leave. There are photos I want and different things I need. The rest of our clothes."
"I can always get your clothes for you guys and I can meet you outside and give them to you if you'd rather not come in."
"That would actually be great, honey," her mother nodded. "Thank you."
She nodded in return.
"I'll help too... I have other stuff to get. Maybe we can go this afternoon."
"Sure," Polly shrugged. "Is it okay if I steal my sister?"
"Fine with me," she grinned. "Actually, I'll come too, just tell your father---give him a heads up, maybe he'll leave."
