The taste of boredom and desperation were prominent, they had been for the last few what-felt-like-forever years, or to put it simply my teenage years. Throughout my teenage years I had been sent to Rivendell as i was said to have "caused too much trouble" in my home realm, which was just another way of my father saying I did not act like the nobility I was born into.

He feared judgement. My father, the King of the Cathan realm, had raised my elder brother and I through royal Elven tradition: we were both taught to fight but I was only expected to learn defend myself and as a woman learn more skills as a housewife, my brother however, was expected to learn to defend a kingdom. This is where the problem lay, as I far more preferred to learn to fight and hunt and thoroughly excelled in it whereas my brother was about as useful with a blade as a blind man playing darts. This very much concerned my father as my brother was heir to the throne yet showed no qualities of a great king and I none of a graceful princess. After my brother passed away in a tragic sudden orc attack while travelling in the North: I was sent to Rivendell by my father in hopes of learning better "princess etiquette", meaning to get me to stop fighting.

Throughout my teenage years I was never allowed out beyond the borders of Rivendell and I was taught the traits of a "perfect Elven lady": learning how to sew, play the harp as well as more formal etiquette when in the presence of others. Lord Elrond unlike my father was not a coward and allowed me to practice my archery but nothing more in order to respect the wishes of my father and avoid any conflict.

But now that I am adult not much has changed, I still am not allowed to fight or go beyond the borders of the realm the only thing that had changed was that I was allowed to roam around freely within the realm. This did not change anything for me as I had seen all the wonders of our realm many times through sneaking about in my younger years. The borders of the realm only felt like more of a cage that tempted me to leave, I wanted to leave, I wanted an adventure.

This day was just like any other, we awaited the arrival of guests, one thing I had learnt through my years at Rivendell was how we as elves properly greeted guests. I had woken earlier this morning as I had been doing for the past few months: the air had become thinner as a growing darkness seemed to linger. I had been praying to the Valar more recently in hopes for an escape from both this darkness and this cage-like realm.

My maid had laid my clothes out and run my bath for me a few hours after my waking. The arrival of guests meant welcoming them in our finest garments, I put on a draping grey velvet dress paired with a matching floor length cape due to the recent chill in the air. By the time I was ready our guests had already arrived and were awaiting their lunch.

I made my way down to the hall where the guests were to be seated and took my place next to my harp and started to play a song of welcome as the guests flooded in. Whilst playing I noticed the strangest mixture of guests: elves, men, hobbits, a wizard and even dwarves all with an air of entitlement and secrecy. Nonetheless, I carried on playing to accompany their banquet although intrigue filled me and I would occasionally glance from playing to see the goings on of these men. Although, nothing in particular took place other than a few commotions between dwarves and the elven guests, I did notice one familiar face only by recognition as I did not know his name I had seen him in Rivendell once before. He had long golden flowing hair with piercing blue eyes that were not cold as I once remember. We made eye contact for maybe less than a second before I broke it to concentrate on finishing my song.

After lunch had finished, I was instructed to return to my chambers however, naturally I chose to disobey this through intrigue of the unusual guests and after hearing rumours of a secret meeting that i had fortunately overheard due to the gaudiness of dwarves: I made my way up to the balcony that overlooked the biggest waterfall in the realm and sat above Lord Elronds favourite "secret" meeting place. I had only waited less than six minutes before our guests had been seated and the meeting began.
