20th of december | Harry

Even though it was only November, winter was already very present in Lanfordshire.

Of course there was still no snow (sadly), but the streets were cold and frozen and you had to watch out where you were going if you didn't want to slip.

Harry was sitting on the sofa wrapped in a blanket. The telly was on, but he wasn't paying much attention to it: he was waiting for Louis, who was still at football practice. Their coach had decided to start the season early this year to get the boys in good shape for the springtime competitions.

Harry was so proud of his boyfriend for giving his passion another chance.

And Louis was a natural, obviously.

Be there in 5!

He smiled at Louis's message. A warm feeling spread in his chest and he felt his heart glow. If his mother was here she would have made a comment on his dreamy smile and flushed cheeks, but she was spending the day with Robin.

A little part of him was sad when she would say she'd go to his place for the day. It felt like she was choosing Robin over him and even though she wasn't, Harry couldn't help but feel a bit neglected.

For the most part, however, he was happy. Happy that his mom found someone who deserves her love. Happy that she's not alone anymore. Happy that Robin is such a friendly and warm-hearted person. Happy that she is happy with him.

Plunged in thought, he took a little sip from his tea. It was fruity and had honey in it and it was the perfect beverage for winter. Nothing could top hot chocolate though.

The steam of the tea teased his nose with its heat. His nose started tingling and he felt the urge to sneeze.

Now that he thought about it; the tingling had been going on for a few days now, announcing the beginning of a cold. His throat was a bit sore too, plus he had this awful cough this morning.

Goddamn it. He thought. Because he really didn't want Louis to catch his cold and not be able to make it to football practice. That meant he had to stay away for a few days until it would blow over.

That wouldn't take longer than a week, but still a week without Louis sounded so awful.

He was about to text him not to bother to come, but he heard the back door open.

"'m here!"

Louis made sure to close the door quickly to keep the cold air out.

His hair was a mess; it looked like two birds had made a little nest in it. It was beautiful nonetheless. His cheeks were rosy and eyes vivid. He was still wearing his clothes from practice, it looked like he had just wrapped a scarf around his neck and called it a day. How was he not freezing cold? He was wearing shorts in November!?

"Hey bug." He must have been staring at the older boy for a long time, because Louis looked quite amused at him.

"Saw anything you liked?" He joked.

"I missed you, Lou."

Louis hung his scarf on a chair and casually walked to the couch, hands in his pockets.

But the "missed you too" coming from his mouth didn't sound casual. More like genuine.

He took a seat on the fluffy couch. For some reason, he wasn't sitting directly next to Harry, but sideways, a little further on the couch. Harry realized this was all intentional, so this way he could take his time to check Harry out. His cheeky eyes stared at the little hump of blanket Harry was wrapped into.
