Jack POV-
Well the Christmas eve party is going well. We are here at my parents house. Gabrielle's family is all here. My sister is home. Some of our extend family is here. It's a perfect family Christmas. We are just waiting on one more before we announce our news. Jaycee is suppose to come by for a bit with her new boyfriend. Gabrielle and I are both interested in meeting him face to face. Talking over video calls is fine, but it's not the same. I have a whole big brother speech planned out.
This are as good as times can get. Sitting here on the chair with Gabrielle just being with family during the holidays. Everyone is happy and together. But I think Cassie suspects something is up. I admit that Gabrielle and I are even closer then normal this year. I mean we both love Christmas, but with our soon to be growing family, we are just a bit more clingy then normal. I mean I don't know if Gabrielle has been more then 2 feet away from me tonight. With the exception of the welcoming hugs to people, I don't think we haven't been touching in some way all night. We are saps for each other, sue us.
"So Jack any big plans for next year? Any new changes you see coming up? I mean last year you finally joined your marketing firm. What's next?"
Dad just gave me the perfect opening, but Jaycee isn't here yet. I know Gabrielle really wanted to wait. I looked at Gabrielle and after a second or two of silent communication she shrugged a little. I guess it was time.
"Well maybe one or two Dad..."
"Oh. What are you thinking?"
Just before I was about to expand the doorbell rang. Olyvia jumped up to answer it. We must not have been the only ones waiting on Jaycee. I am glad to see that some things don't change.
"About time you guys showed up. I was being to think you weren't coming."
"Olyvia, we said we would. We were a little behind because of Robert's family."
"I was teasing you Jaycee. Welcome guys. Everyone is here."
You could hear a lot of welcomes coming from everyone. Gabrielle even got up so she could give Jaycee a hug. Of course that forced me up to do the same. It was after Robert and Jaycee had drinks that I looked at Gabrielle and nodded. She took a deep breath and we walked over to the Christmas tree to get a bunch of boxes that we brought here just for this. She took one to my parents and one to hers. I gave them out to her sisters, Olyvia and Jaycee. She then walked back over to me and grabbed my hand. I guess it was my turn.
"Guys Gabrielle and I got those for you all for tonight specifically. We think they are very special and would like you to open them now. There are other presents for tomorrow. These are for tonight."
I could everyone looking quizzically at us. Gabrielle just nodded and said.
"Go a head. We are so happy we could give them to you. We have been waiting a month or two. We hope they will make you as happy as we are."
So with that there were sounds of paper ripping all over the living room. As we watch, Cassie was the first one to open the box. She took one look at what was inside and almost ran over to grab Gabrielle and I in a huge hug. I could see tears of happiness in her eyes.
"Your damn right I will be. I love you guys. I am so happy for you. This is the perfect Christmas gift."
Everyone else had paused at Cassie's reaction. As the seconds stretched to a minute... Eventually the silence was finally broken by Madalyn.
"Cassie, what did they give you?"
"Open the box Madalyn."
So she did. Her reaction was different but kind of the same.
