A Broppy FanFic

Chapter 3

Branchs POV:

When Poppy Knocked on my roof I didn't want to open it but at the same time I did. I had so many conflicting feelings. Then I decided that if Poppys already suspects that something is up then I might as well ask her what we are. Are we friends? Nothing more than friends? I asked and...well I got my answer.

"We're best friends!"

When I heard this I didn't do anything. I just sat there contemplating and processing what just happened. So we are more than friends, and that means that we are...Best friends? I guess that made sense. I only recently got friends and I've never had a best friend before so it makes sense why I was confused. But upon hearing that I still felt disappointed. Poppy was smiling brightly as usual and I felt like an idiot. What was I expecting? I don't really know anymore.

Poppys POV:

I did it! I figured out what had been bothering me all day. Me and Branch are best friends. I'm relieved, but why did Branch ask me that question? Wait! Was this bothering Branch too? Then it wasn't just me! This is great.

"Is this what was bothering you?"

"Um...yeah."

I smiled and gave Branch a hug. "Well I'm glad we cleared this up. What time is it?"

"I don't know... around 2 pm."

I sprang up. "Branch I have to go. I have a meeting with Sky Toronto about a new toy he's producing. Bye!" My hug watch chimed. " Ok one last hug before I go." I ran back over to Branch and gave him a big hug. "Mmm. Ok. Bye!"

A wave of relief washed over me as I exited Branch's Bunker. I hadn't realized how tense I was. Later on after my meeting with Sky Toronto it occurred to me that Branch didn't get to have lunch. The picnic we had planned was supposed to be our lunch but he missed it. I decided that we could have our own picnic. It would probably be better that way. I packed up everything we needed and went searching for Branch. I checked his Bunker but he wasn't there. I asked around the village and found out that Branch was helping DJ Suki fix her water pipes. When I arrived Branch had just finished.

Branchs POV:

When I was walking out of DJ Suki's pod Poppy was there. "Branch!"

"Branch have you had lunch yet?"

"No..."

"Great then we can have a picnic! Don't worry it'll just be you and me."

"Sure."

Despite Poppys caution it was that fact that it was just going to be me and her that made me worry.

"Branch, we're going to picnic cove. There are a few critters here and there but it'll be fine. I found a spot that's not too crowded so I think you'll like it."

"Really? I've never actually been there. You know it's a tourist attraction."

"That's right but only certain parts."

When we arrived there were only 6 other people there and they were spread out. Poppy was right. We put down our mat and I helped unload the basket.

Poppy: "Alright so I brought all of your favorites. Raspberry sandwiches, Strawberry flavored cupcakes, blue raspberry fun vines, and-"

Branch: "Poppy"

Poppy: "Yes?"

Branch: "Those are all of your favorites. Not mine. I don't really have any favorites, remember?"

Poppy: "Oh..I thought something was off. Well are you ok with eating these?"

Branch: "Yeah they're still pretty good."

As we were eating Poppy asked me "Are you going to my dads party tonight? He's getting everything set up. It's going to be held in the dining hall."

"I don't know..."

"Aw c'mon. It'll be fun! My dad throws really good parties."

"I'm busy."

"With what?"

"I...I need to upgrade Gary."

"Gary?...Your remote?"

"Yes. I added some new features to my bunker and in order to access those features I need to first upgrade Gary."

Poppy shrugged. "Alright then. I'll be sure to scrap book the party for you so you don't miss a thing!"

"Right...um- so I have a question."

"What is it?"

"Did you- Did you get a letter from Bridget recently?" I was treading on dangerous territory but I needed to know if Poppy got the same letter I had.

"A letter? No. Cooper said he accidentally lost my mail the other day. He's going back over the trail to see if he can find it. I offered to help but he said it was fine."

I was suddenly alert. "He lost it?" I must of spoken a little to loud because Poppy said

"Yeah. But it's no big deal. What's the matter branch?"

"O-Oh. Uh, nothing. I was just curious that's all. Well, I should be going. I have a lot of stuff to do." I got up and left.

"Wait Branch! You didn't finish your...sandwich."

Now I had a legitimate reason to be absent from King Peppys party. I had to find that letter before Cooper did.
