Poppys POV:

Cooper and I had no idea of where to start looking for Branch. I suggested that he retrace their steps. When that didn't have any luck we asked around the village to see if anyone had seen Branch. One of the junior trolls, Keith, told us that he had last seen Branch heading in the direction of his bunker. Branch's bunker is a notorious spot. Before Branch started to get along with the other trolls his bunker was said to be...a haunted area. There were a lot of rumors about the place so naturally everyone in Troll Village knows where Branch's Bunker is. Cooper and I knew that the bunker was fortified with traps so we were worried that Branch got locked in his bunker or something.

"Cooper the roof is locked!"

"That's fine there are other ways in."

"You mean the entrances we made with the Snack Pack? We only used those to prank Branch and didn't he close those off anyway?"

"Not all of them. I tunneled into his bunker a while back when I was trying to surprise Branch with a Hug attack." Cooper walked onto the other side of the bunker and went a few more yards ahead until he was met with a large tree. "This is it. See, if you remove the leaves on the ground you find..."

"A tunnel! This is great Cooper!"

Cooper chuckled "Oh it's nothing. You know, just looking out for our friend." Cooper and I fell through the tunnel.

"It's pretty dark in here." I lit up my hair until it glowed a bright pink light. "That's better."

Going through the tunnel was simple enough- we emerged into Branch's bunker about 5 minutes later.

"Um, Cooper...?"

"Yeah Poppy?"

"Why does the tunnel lead into Branch's bedroom?"

"I wanted to surprise him right when he woke up that way he couldn't escape the hug!" Cooper laughed softly.

"Oh." It's not like the room was dirty or anything. It was just bleak. "Ok so how do we find Branch? The Bunker is-" I jumped from surprise.

"Poppy what is it?"

"I-I think I heard something. It sounded like a drawer opening or something." I ran out of the room and down the hall, Cooper followed after me. "I think it came from over here." I turned the corner and I saw him. "Branch!" I started to run towards Branch but stopped short. He hadn't turned around and moreover he was holding something. My...letter?

Branchs POV:

I didn't want to look at her. I didn't want to do anything but disappear. I didn't know what to do so I just stood there waiting for her to say something.

I heard Cooper's voice, "Poppy! Pop- Oh hey Branch!"

I already resealed the letter but- my thoughts froze. My whole body froze in fact. I didn't see it coming but...Poppy hugged me.

"Your alright Branch! We were so worried. And you got my letter for me, thank you! What-What happened?"

A tear fell on my arm. Poppy was crying. Was she really this worried about me? I racked my mind for an excuse.

"I...I decided to come to your dad's party and I thought I would give the letter to you like a gift. I was- I was just about to put it in a box or something. I'm sorry Poppy. I should have just given it to you."

Poppy looked awestruck. She looked like she was going to cry some more but instead she wiped her tears. "Thank you Branch. You don't have to say sorry it was a nice gesture. And I'm glad you're coming to the party."

I gave the letter to Poppy and we left to go to the Party. When I said sorry to her, I meant it. I was sorry for lying to her earlier and for lying to her now. I was sorry for stealing her letter, I was just...sorry. It was one lie on top of another. Things were getting out of hand and I felt like I was suffocating.
