"Just what are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing... EJ."
Though you tried to sound stern, your voice betrayed you as it trembled. The feeling on your legs had yet to return, and you huddled closer to EJ for support.
As if by fate, EJ had been walking down the street when he found you being solicited by a strange man. Sensing your discomfort, he had jumped into the situation to provide an exit. He pulled you away, posing as if he was your abandoned lover, and the man was left looking very dejected.
At first, you didn't recognize him under the dark night of an illuminated city, but his touch felt safe when he pulled you away. Suddenly close, you felt his scent was familiar, and the feeling of leaning against his chest brought back memories of peaceful afternoon reading sessions at the Slenderman mansion. Though he had covered his face with a face mask and some eccentric, oversized, black glasses, you realized it was the very same EJ.
"A certain asshole of a clown called me, saying there was some urgent issue to attend to." He paused to look at you, eyeing you from the bottom up. Somehow, it made you feel a little embarrassed. "I just didn't think he meant you."
"Sorry to be such a bother..."
"I doubt any of this is your fault. Rather, your outfit is a bit..."
"My clothes...?"
You clutched the hem of your skirt in a futile attempt to hide your legs. As EJ clutched his mouth and looked away from you, a feeling of shame welled up in you as you felt he must've been disgusted with your appearance.
"I apologize, these clothes don't very much suit me."
"That's not it!" He suddenly raised his voice in a frantic manner. "Actually they suit you a little too well and it just... pissed me off..."
That last bit was very quiet, you almost didn't hear it. You looked at him confused.
"Do you want me to remove my attire?"
"R-REMOVE YOUR...!?"
EJ started to cough violently, choking on seemingly nothing. You weren't sure what he was so surprised about, it was an innocent question. If your clothes were causing him such distress, it would fare him better if you changed.
People passing by stopped to look at you two, EJ's outburst garnering their attention. Thankfully he noticed the odd looks they were giving you and quickly regained his composure. Wrapping an arm around your shoulder, he gently guided you away from prying eyes.
"Did Jane and LJ bring you here? Does Slender know about this? You know he's gonna freak if he hears about this right?"
"I know, but it's just... I couldn't say no to my friends..."
"Hah, didn't think any of our people were capable of being friends. Where were these friends of yours when that dude was harassing you?"
"No, he was trying to help me! He thought I was lost and was going to bring me to the train station. Jane and LJ were trying to help me too! But I left them at the restaurant..."
"Fucking hell, he was leading you away from the station," he mumbled to himself so you couldn't quite hear.
Exhausted, EJ took a seat on a bench which you hadn't noticed until now. It seems he had led you to a park, far away from the hustle and bustle of the inner city. There was a lot less people around; rather, you two may as well have been alone. He patted the spot beside him, urging you to join. You obliged, meekly sitting a bit away from him. Despite how much the two of you seem to touch, being so close to him still brings you to embarrassment.
