...Lucas

"What the fuck do you mean, you're the traitor?" I roar, grabbing his collar and shoving him off the sofa and onto the ground. My canines extend as well as my claws as I fight my wolf from taking control. Who knows who I'd replace this idiot with if my wolf kills him? Who would I rant to and ask advice from? "You know better than to go against me, you dumb fuck." I hiss, tightening my hold on his collar as he pales beneath me.

"Look, you know how important mates are. It's a one or none. I love her, and I'd do anything for her, and now our child. You of all people should know that!" He exclaims, wrapping his hands around my wrists in hopes of getting me to let go. I growl and he immediately removes his hands, in fear of ruining anything else. "Okay, listen-"

"You've got balls, telling me to listen after you've sent your Luna to her death." I cut him off, rage running through my veins. "Who the hell did you give her to anyway?" I question, letting him go as my need for answers almost calms my wolf down as well. Who's this she?

"Uhm, well there was this blonde woman. Big eyes, long hair..." He trails off as he sits up, opposite to me. "She came out of nowhere with a bunch of rogues that I recognized as some leftovers of Caine's people." I growl at him to get him going instead of trailing off as if he's telling some fairy tale. "The people with her kept referring to her as some kind of psycho bitch but I don't think she could hear them. She wasn't a werewolf or vampire." She sounds too familiar. "To be honest, she didn't have a scent. The woman said I have to hand over both Caine and Melanie or else she'll kill Kathy and our baby."

At the mention of Caine, I'm immediately on him again and I swiftly punch him in the face, missing his nose by a centimeter. "You WHAT?" Giving Melanie off to someone considered a psycho bitch was bad enough, but he handed Caine over too? How did this man, my Beta, my trusted friend, just give over two people of importance to me and to this Pack? Why did this stupid man not tell me, so we could have strategized together instead of handing over my Alpha female and prisoner?

"Y-yeah, I had to. Mates are one of a kind, and rare." I punch him again, this time hitting his nose to hear a satisfying crack. As blood pours out of his nose like Niagara Falls, I move away from him, holding my head in my hands. Pack warriors and members mind-link me as my stress and rage reach an unfamiliarly high level. My wolf berates me for trusting anyone else but us, reminding me that almost everyone around me has always betrayed me, and now our Beta was no exception. Jake reminds me of the failure I am, as he takes over.

That's when it clicks. Who this woman is. Where Caine's animosity started from. Alessandra. Of course. I shouldn't have believed that Caine killed her. She was never that easy to get rid of. I would know.
