It's almost as if the world stills around me as I realize we're back to square one. Our lives are in Caine's hands once again, and he doesn't look forgiving. After all, we tied him up like an animal on a stake after snapping his neck and beating him up very badly. What in the world does the Moon Goddess have in store for us?

The victory I had been feeling is replaced by a pitting feeling of apprehension as I use the light from the broken-in doors to gather my surroundings. Behind a furious Caine is a wall of fire, the flames licking the bottom of the soggy ditch our truck had been launched into. Beside me, I notice Jeremy covering his mate as if he's trying to shield her from the unforgiving world. I take a shaky breath as I cast my gaze to my legs that are crushed underneath the twisted and broken metal bench that Jeremy and his mate had been sitting on before.

Panic fills my chest as I meet the gaze of Elliot who's concealed behind the one door that Caine hadn't fully ripped off and was now dangling at an odd angle that just barely hid the doctor or warrior or whatever he is. On his side is a large First Aid kit and Lucas, the wrapping I had put around his head now a dark red and a crooked arm laying over his eyes. Elliot lifts one finger up to place it on his lips as he turns his attention to the kit and Lucas's head, which is still in dire need of proper medical care. I guess he's proving how much of a lifesaving Derek Shepherd he can be.

I snap my eyes to meet Caine's dark ones, as he takes a step inside the totaled truck. Alarms ring in my head as I grasp the fact that, if the unscrupulous hybrid takes a few more steps and turns just a little bit, he would find Elliot trying to save Lucas. "C-Caine," I groan dramatically, clutching my stomach which was truly hurting with stabbing pains. The man stops, a confused look on his face as I decide to play to his desires. "What if your stupid actions killed my chances of ever having a child?" His dark gaze immediately hardens as he rolls his eyes, taking another few steps forward. I hold my hand out just before he reaches the point where if he turned around, he would see what I want to hide.

"You know what will happen to you if I can't get what I want." Of course, Caine doesn't care about life or death, he only cares about himself and his lineage. If I fail to give him what he wants, Alessandra is his backup plan and I will die at their hands. He'll get what he wants either way, and if he's truly harmed my baby-making abilities, I don't think I'll ever get over that.

I've always wanted cute, tiny, innocent, mini versions of myself, and I'm sure Lucas wants kids too if we ever make it that far. We'd definitely wait a while before the topic of children comes up, having already suffered on shaky grounds. I don't want to risk hurting our flourishing relationship. What will Lucas do if he won't ever have an heir to his Pack? What will happen to us then?
