 HAZEL HATED THAT SHE PROMISED to attend this stupid party that James Potter threw, but she hated the idea of backing out on Lily even more. She'd much rather go to a party that she didn't really want to attend than to break her best friend's heart. Hazel dragged herself to the Gryffindor common room as she finished getting dressed out in the Quidditch locker rooms (Saturdays were reserved for practice, unless it was for Hogsmeade, that was a-whole-nother story). Perhaps her outfit wasn't the most appropriate for a party, but she didn't particularly care once Sirius pulled her to the other side of the common room the moment she entered.

As soon as Sirius handed Hazel a shot of amber liquid, one that smelt heavily of cinnamon, he returned to his boyfriend's side and tucked himself underneath the taller boy's arm. He cheered loudly as the redhead swallowed the shot without a word, and laughed at the expression she pulled. Her eyes were squinted and her nose curled up, the burning liquid not entirely welcomed, at least for now. Hazel never did enjoy the first shot of fire-whiskey.

"Here, take another." Sirius encouraged as he refilled the cup with another shot.

Hazel coughed again, and narrowed her eyes at the boy. "You are a terrible influence, Black. Good Godric, I think you might actually kill me one of these days."

Remus rolled his eyes, "He's gonna kill himself one of these days."

"Is that why you're sober?" Hazel teased the boy, and he only rolled his eyes again. "Make sure he doesn't accidentally kill himself?"

"I'm sober because someone has to care for these idiots at the end of the night." Remus scoffed, but blushed as Sirius pressed a slightly drunk, but loving, kiss to his cheek. "Simon's gonna hate us all at three in the morning."

Sirius groaned, and pushed the cup closer to Hazel's face from where she held it at chest level. "Shut up and take the shot. I need a drinking buddy since Prongs is too busy trying to get with Lily—" Sirius shut up and looked at Remus with a big grin. "How much do you want to bet that Lily and Kaylee are gonna kiss tonight?"

Hazel rolled her eyes, and swallowed the second shot as Remus and Sirius began to bicker, quietly and playfully. She paid no mind, and shoved her empty cup into Sirius' free hand as she laid her head against his shoulder. Her eyes roamed the common room, mentally taking attendance of everyone who was there, and she was selfishly looking for her other friends.

She found Marlene, dancing and laughing with a seventh year boy that she couldn't remember the name of in that moment. Her blonde friend had found a moment of uninterrupted bliss.

Then she found Mary and Dorcas, tucked away in the corner. Usually one of them always stayed with Mary, the girl who tended to be more introverted but still found some fun at parties. It wasn't odd to see the two in the corner, laughing and drinking something from full cups.
