Narrator P.O.V
Divine Doherty, a fourteen year old Half-Indian girl whose love for art and music never seemed to end, was on a trip to Singapore to meet her cousins.
The thought of finally visiting one of her favorite countries, for sure kept her on the edge of her seat. Literally, you could see her handprints etched on the edge of the seat which was gripped so many times. The poor seat definitely wasn't sharing her excitement.
Div was excited to see her cousins Axel and Arielle, though handling Axel wouldn't be a piece of cake. But she didn't mind because needless to say nothing was going to get in her way as long as they didn't have to visit a boring museum. Art galleries and national parks were fun but museums brought out the bore in everything.
She was certainly looking more forward to the sights and wonders of Singapore than her cousins. But wouldn't you too?
After a very long time on the plane, and in Div's opinion almost an entire year, they reached Singapore. Div was delighted to finally get out of the plane while her seat was relieved to finally be out of her tight grasp.
Div's P.O.V
I can't believe I'm finally here. Coming here has been on the top of my wish list for several years! Although, I'm certainly not looking forward to spending time with Axel for two weeks but I'm in Singapore so it's totally worth it.
I walked out of the airport with my luggage in one hand and passport in the other. Just as I stepped out, Axel jumped right in front of me being his usual annoying and very very energetic self. Now only if he put that energy into good use like helping me or something.
Axel: Hey cuz! So, how are you going to stand me for two whole weeks, let alone an hour?
Me (Div): Uggggh! This is going to be two very very long weeks.
Alex: Hey, aren't you going to wish your cousin who you haven't seen for so long?
Me: I don't wish insolent kids who don't know how to behave!
Alex: Are you talking about yourself, cuz?
Me: You! I don't have the time nor the energy to deal with you right now! That sneaky and annoying brat was always there to ruin my day. He is definitely going to be up to something. I would bet on it.
The car ride from the airport to the house wasn't very joyful or that eventful.
In between, while already being squished against the window uncomfortably, Alex demanded to stop the car so that he could rush out and throw up. Then he decided to sit next to me because apparently he wanted to spend more time with me. Other than that throw up fiasco, everything went somewhat peaceful. Then at long last, we reached Axel's house where I would be staying for two weeks. After escaping from the tight embrace of my aunt and the cheesy humor of my uncle, I decided to explore my new abode.
The house was pretty big and looked very comfy. I was given a small room all to myself at the beginning of the corridor while my parents shared the guest room opposite to my room. Thank goodness I didn't have to share a room with Axel!
After my small excursion, we decided to spent quality time together in the backyard. Surprisingly, it went better than I had expected. Even Axel behaved and didn't bother me. It would be easier to believe in flying pigs than that.
We roasted marshmallows and drank hot cocoa while stargazing and enjoying the warmth of the bonfire we had lit. Though lighting a fire was harder than I thought it would be, it definitely made us feel cozy and relaxed. We shared funny stories to and fro; ending the night by singing songs. And even though everyone went off-key, I immensely enjoyed it.
Then Axel returned to his true self and stole my toothpaste so I had to chase him around in my pjs and bunny slippers which were not made to run with. I learned that lesson the hard way. Eventually he stopped running and gave, as in threw, the toothpaste back to me. Then we all settled in for the night.
