Wang Yibo's POV

"Expecting someone?" I looked up from the leaf on my hand, right into Haoxuan's eyes who had a slight smirk playing around his lips, he grinned like a child who just got candy, but that was how he almost always seemed to look.

"You're not expecting him again, are you?" This time there was something hidden inside his voice, and I watched the long gone dead leave escaping through my fingers like a feather while I averted his gaze.

"You're a curse to the world, and do you want me to remind you of what happened all those years ago," without noticing I felt my body tense at the mention of the event of years ago.

"Yibo," his voice was light, and I recognized the tone, it was the same he used on people who stumbled upon this forest, he had used to the one he loved to save him from being one of us while it killed Haoxuan every single day, it was his way of putting a spell on someone, letting them remember everything as a dream.

"I am not waiting for him," I stated my words and turned around walking away from Haoxuan leaving him behind with a lie of which I knew he wouldn't believe, that all because he knew me as a brother.

"Stay safe," the words hung into the silence while I walked further from him, and deeper into the forest, one crow cried, as a second joined, a third followed, and a fourth ended the last cry before silence fell once again.

I walked deeper and deeper into the darkness, forgetting the time that didn't exist in this endless foresting maze, sometimes this place reminded me of the story she once told me, it reminded me of the labyrinth Daedalus made, I slowly shook my head with a small smile on my face before the sound of the creaking of twigs under a light foot woke me up from my slumber.

Without thinking twice I recognized these footsteps, they were too deep to be someone from the forest, too loud to be Haouxuan, but though that it was too soft to come from a lost youth who came here because of a challenge. In this forest, a day can feel like centuries, and I fastly had lost count of how many people lost their lives inside here just because of a stupid trial with friends.

"Are you here to cause trouble again?" The words slipped from my mouth faster than I could have proceeded as if they were there waiting to come out, and I came into his vision.

He smiled, a smile I had missed, a smile that had been following me not only in dreams but also in reality, a smile I would've recognized out of thousand, a smile that was forever engraved inside the deepest and darkest part of my memories, hidden away.

He must haven't noticed, "you know that staring at someone like that can be seen as rude?" I chuckled while watching him fastly averting his gaze, and looking down with his head bowed.

A stray of moonlight from through the trees fell onto his dark hair that looked oily and fell wary in front of his eyes that still shined like a starry night sky, and I questioned myself how long it would take before those stars would extinguish, maybe when he saw the real outside world?

"Why are you here?" He left a small smile, the silence around us developed into a deeper level, and here we stood in the middle of nowhere with darkness covering us through the moonlight dashing over us, and the shining stars were looking over us.

I looked at him, and my mouth automatically opened, "now you're here anyway I guess you may have some spare time to spend for me because after all without me you would be lost the first time already." After the sentence left my mouth, his head immediately shot up, and our eyes got locked, his was as deep as the sea hiding something of innocence that many already lost at your age, how old was he now?
